Over 60,000 workers in the construction sector
have lost their jobs in the past four months,
signifying a massive break in infrastructure
development, which has been described as
unfair on the workers who voted in a Federal
Government that promised to protect their
interests. This was the position of the National
Union of Civil Engineering Construction,
Furniture and Wood Workers, NUCECFWW, at a

The budget passed by the National Assembly before Buhari was elected put Capital Expenditure at 10% while Recurrent Expenditure is at 90%. With dwindling crude oil price and no savings, where do you expect construction to come from? We have to realistically admit that past governments at all tiers and across party line, didn't exhibit fiscal discipline. On our own part we have to do away with our consumption pattern and be productive. The era of feeding bottle economy is gone.
Students who create no wealth enjoy taging along on Dubai and UK vacations, carrying BlackBerry Passport, wearing Prada shoes; when they are done with attending Ministers cocktail and Psquare shows.Things got to change; and it has to start with us.
