I have been working as the confidential secretary of one of the company here in Nigeria (Name withheld) for security reasons. Last month, a new manager was transferred to were I'm working while the former boss was transferred to Ibadan branch. Since I join the company, I dress corporate always on suit and tie except Fridays most at time I go on traditional wears. NOW, client and some business associate mistake me to be the manager because of the way I dress.

in different occasions client have called me manager in his presence (The new manager) and he'll frown his face at me. Just yesterday, I dress on Navy blue suit with sparkling white T-shit I got over the week end. immediately he entered the office, he summon me indirectly telling me the way I dress makes people to think I'm the new manager. When I ask him "Sir, what are you insinuating, he said I should leave his office". Ever since then, am uncomfortable.

please advice on what and how to follow this kind of person.

Nobody is saying wear rag but u can dress corporate without being like Jidenna the 'Classy man'.

I lost my job last year cous of my taste for wrist watch nd the car I drove.

Reduce your dressing for your own good. Is your boss a Chinese? I worked with one Chinese woman ,she's just like that. I locked all the suits I bought during banking times in my wardrobe for Sunday service. Guy, abeg apply wisdom

Mine was d day I wore the same shirt with my MD the same day, the look on his face was killing well 2weeks later got suspended, keep ur big boy life out of your office, unless u got better offer.

OP going by ur grammar and ur story, it seems to me u lyk to show off especially with ur dressing. Is it safe to assume there's no dress code in ur office and by dressing in corporate makes every other pesin look non-corporate?? What exactly do u want nairalanders to tell u dat u haven't already heard from ur boss??

When he summoned you, should have just answered him, " Sorry sir, it is not true o. Haba you are the manager nah "..

Start hailing him, " Oga manager ", before greeting him good afternoon. Do this even in the presence of your customers...

Moreover why wear suit everyday when you are not a banker?

Tooor... You just have to adjust to the situation you are in and hope and pray for a better job where you will even see people opressing you with better suits. That's just how life is bro.
