But the Eguns are not Yoruba, even the Aworis which you claim to be are also denying same... A visit to Badary where the Eguns are shows that their way of life and language and also name is totally different from a typical Yoruba. U claims thus is faulted... Other tribes ad ethnic groups also have their unique achievements, don't come here and start claim suphisticacy or being a pioneer more than others... 1 Like |

christejames:there's is something called "acculturation." im from Ilorin but stayed in badagry (mowe) for a huge part of my life. It's true egun people originally are not Yoruba but its almost impossible to find an egun person who doesn't have a Yoruba name or speak Yoruba. In fact, the grandson of the Akran, who's a friend of mine, has a Yoruba name. Most often than not, egun people don't disprove it when u call them Yoruba. With respect to the aworis...that's pure false. There's no awori person who claims he's not a Yoruba. In fact, the ooni of ife is not more Yoruba than the olota of otta or onijanikin of ijanikin...if you've studied Yoruba history very well and lived amongst them...you'll grab my point. |
