With dust from the Senate President, Bukola Saraki’s saga yet to settle, both the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have continued to exchange attacks over the bench warrant issued by the Code of Conduct tribunal, CCT.

In what seemed to be an initial condemnation over CCT calls for Saraki’s arrest, the PDP on Saturday accused President Muhammadu Buhari of “deliberate infractions and crass abuse of power” and warned that the “nation is on a quick slide into fascism and official terrorism”.

The PDP also added that the “relentless onslaught against democratic institutions” was totally condemnable and a ”disdain to the independence of the legislature and the principle of separation of powers.”

In swift reaction, the APC through its Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed labelled his counterpart Olisa Metuh as “ethically challenged,” insisting that the PDP was only out to distract the ongoing efforts of Buhari’s Administration towards eradicating age long impunity and corruption, and therefore warned that the opposition party will fail in their efforts.
