Yenagoa—The police in Bayelsa State on Saturday night repelled attempt by some gunmen to abduct His Royal Highness, G.G Igodo, the paramount ruler of Ogbogoro, on the outskirts of Yenagoa, the state capital.

It was gathered that the six gunmen stormed the residence of the royal father at about 10pm to carry out their sinister motive but were forced to beat a retreat, following the quick intervention of the police, which engaged them in shoot out.

Sources told Vanguard that members of the community on noticing the strange movement of the invaders, alerted the police and patrol teams were deployed promptly.

The hoodlums, in a bid to escape reportedly shot and injured one Alex ThankGod, 18, a member of the community.
