Everybody want to be successful in life, but is
not all that want to Work for it. Some celebrities become famous because they
are born into an already famous family; look
at DJ Cuppy and Lynxx for example. Other celebrities,
however, have had a pretty hard life. They have
had to work their way up through the rankings,
without having any showbiz connections. Some
even came from poverty stricken backgrounds.
You will not believe these famous celebrities
have gone from rags to riches!

Timaya
Enetimi Alfred Odon – better known by his
stage name Timaya, is a Nigerian singer and
songwriter. He is the founder of South South
hip hop group Dem Mama Soldiers.He grew up
as part of a large family; the youngest of
fifteen children in Agip Estate, Port Harcourt.
His father was a banker and his mother was a
trader. For his early education, Odom attended
Assemblies of God Nursery And Primary
School.His secondary school education began
at Nkpolu Oroworukwo in Port Harcourt.
He would often break house rules to attend
late-night music events. Before Timaya could
graduate from school, his mother arranged for
him to travel with his older brother and older
sister to Lagos. After moving to the city, he
gained admission into Lagos’ Ikeja Grammar
School, where he eventually obtained a
secondary school certificate.
Timaya later returned to Port Harcourt to study
Banking and Finance at tertiary-level, however,
he performed poorly in examinations and
dropped out after first semester.He then moved
back to Lagos to join Eedris Abdulkareem’s
hiphop group as a backup vocalist.
After three years working for Eedris, Timaya
departed from the group to focus on his solo
career. He began to record collaborations with
fellow up-and-coming artists and made his first
cameo appearance in an unreleased music
video by UDX, a Lagos-based rap group. He
subsequently met producer K-Solo in Mafoluku,
Oshodi, who produced his first major hit record
“Dem Mama” after hearing him perform the a
cappella version.Describing the song in an
interview posted on August 2013, Timaya said:
“Dem Mama” was an account of the 1999
destruction of Odi, a river side community in
Niger Delta. Soldiers were hunting down
militants they alleged killed eight policemen.
The village was burnt down and numerous
people killed. I bravely tackled the issue years
later and won instant street credibility for my
boldness.
Timaya gained further visibility and
international prominence through his third
studio albumDe Rebirth, and its lead single
“Plantain Boy”. Both were commercially
successful. He collaborated with Dem Mama
Soldiers on the albumLLNP (Long Life N
Prosperity). In 2012, Timaya releasedUpgrade,
which spawned hits “Bum Bum”, “s*xy Ladies”,
and “Malonogede”. To date, his work has
earned him four Headies Awards, and one
Nigeria Music Award
In 2011, Timaya was appointed a Peace
Ambassador by the Interreligious and
International Federation for World Peace

Oritse Femi
Oritsefemi Majemite Ekele, is a Nigerian singer-
songwriter and performer and his the third child
of his mother, was born and raised in a
polygamous family of 25 in Ajegunle.He hails
from the Itsekiri tribe of North Warri, Delta
State.
He briefly attended Mayday Secondary School
in Ikoyi and switched to Tolu Primary School in
Ajegunle due to his parents not being able to
maintain the high cost of schooling in the
affluent neighborhood of Ikoyi.
He completed his elementary education at
Army Children School. He attained his
secondary school certificate from Randle
Secondary School and applied to study law at
Delta State University in Abraka, but dropped
out to concentrate on his music career.
He is best known for his remake of Fela Kuti’s
“Double Wahala” song. His rendition of the
song earned him two nominations at the 2014
City People Entertainment Awards, winning the
award for Most Popular Song of the Year. He
also won the Indigenous Artist of the Year
award at the 2014 Nigeria Entertainment
Awards. In 2014, he released the remix for his
version of the song featuring D’banj.And Since
then We can’t just get Enough of Oritsefemi
Majemite Ekele.

3. Reminisce (Alaga Ibile) Reminisce is a Nigerian household name, a musical icon amongst today’s youth, and an internationally recognized artiste. Reminisce is a versatile (singer, rapper and a song writer) Nigerian artiste from Ajilete, Yewa South LGA in Ogun state, western part of Nigeria. He was born on the 26th of January, in Kaduna state in Northern Nigeria. He studied purchasing and supply at Kwara State Polytechnic. As far back as when he was in secondary school, Reminisce was already performing at various school activities; hardly knowing he was on a path to great things. He always wanted to be a rapper, and he developed his rap skills by listening to, and mimicking major rap legends.Producer ID Cabasa discovered Reminisce alongside other Nigerian music great such as Jahbless, 9ice, Lord Of Ajasa and Olamide. He was given the chance to record his first studio song in 2006 and recorded a hardcore rap album at Coded Tunes, but the album was never released and he decided to focus on his studies and complete schooling. In 2008 Reminisce returned to the music scene, performing a rap verse on a track titled “Bachelor’s Life” off 9ice’s sophomore album titled “Gongo Aso”. His first single, “Ever since”, featured 9ice, and was a story about his life till that moment. His second, “If Only”, was a love song produced by Dtunez, where he showed his versatility as singer and a rapper. Both songs established Reminisce in the Nigerian music scene. REMINISCE is signed to Edge Records and is also the founder and creative director of LRR Records. Growing up listening to various genres of local and foreign music helped form Reminisce’s versatile musical style. In 2014, TIME Magazine named REMINISCE “one of the seven World Rappers You Should Meet”. He was also named by Nigeria’s largest music site, NOTJUSTOK, as one of the top three hip hop artists of 2014. Reminisce is a well-loved Brand Ambassador for SAMSUNG and ORIJIN, a popular herb and liquor cocktail produced by Diageo plc in Africa

Wizkid Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun – A.k.a Wizkid/ Starboy,It doesn’t get much sadder than the story ofAyodeji Ibrahim Balogungrowing up as a teenager the Nigerian recording artist, songwriter and performer fell on hard times and left high school, so that he could help support his family. When he was a child the entire family lived in Ojuelegba,Lagos. He started his musical career at age 11, releasing a collaborative album with Glorious Five entitled "Lil Prinz"(2001). In 2009, he signed a record deal with Banky W.’s imprint Empire Mates Entertainment. He rose to prominence in 2010 with the release of the song “Holla at Your Boy” from his debut studio album,Superstar(2011). “Tease Me/Bad Guys”, “Don’t Dull”, “Love My Baby”, “Pakurumo” and “Oluwa Lo Ni” were also released as singles from the Superstar album.
