Rights group,Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) has described late veteran journalist, Bilikisu Yusuf as a great woman who dedicated her life to the service of humanity. In a statement made available to Irohinoodua on Saturday signed by
Auwal Ibrahim Musa (Rafsanjani)Executive Director, CISLAC mourns death of Bilikisu, a reputable woman anti-corruption crusader, human right and gender activist, and the first northern female editor, who died on Thursday in Saudi Arabia.
CISLAC stated 'We recognize and appreciate the remarkable contributions and infallible efforts of Hajiya Yusuf, advancing advocacy for the betterment of common citizens, providing the much needed mentorship for young people, as well as advancing the growth and development of humanity."
She was also a founding and Advisory Council member of CISLAC. The rights group stated that Hajiya Bilkisu was a reliable personality providing tremendous support towards CISLAC’s pursuit of transparency, accountability and good governance through legislative and policy advocacy at all levels.
"Similarly, her priceless contribution towards the establishment and sustainability of such prominent human right organizations and associations such as Transparency International (TI) Nigeria, Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN), Accountability for Maternal Newborn and Child Health in Nigeria (AMHiN), Advocacy Nigeria, Zero-Corruption Coalition (ZCC), Women in Nigeria among others, would forever flourish in our memory.
Without doubt Hajiya Yusuf would be remembered for her years of passionate and tireless pursuit of inclusiveness, self-sufficiency, advancement of women's health rights and personal dignity for women in all ramifications."
Musa said she heroically put behind her various hurdles surrounding women inclusiveness in our society by independently demanding justice, fairness and equity for women at all levels, leaving behind exemplary legacy worthy of emulation by women in present and upcoming generations. Hajia Bilkisu Yusuf will forever leave her footsteps in the sands of time as a great and indefatigable mother with a heart of gold.
Her death is a loss not only to the people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, but also the continent of Africa and the world as a whole and CISLAC commiserates with all. The world mourns a great and irreplaceable gem!
