UI TO MAKE STATEMENT CONCERNING ADMISSION IN TWO WEEKS TIME – UI VC By UCJ UI on August 13, 2016 ADMIT CONFUSION OVER JAMB POLICY The admission policy of the University of Ibadan for the 2016/2017 academic year would be released in the next two weeks according to the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. A. I. Olayinka. The University head stated this while fielding questions from the correspondents of UCJUI who interviewed him recently in his office. “In the next two weeks maximum. The problem is we don’t want to make a policy and then tomorrow, the government comes up with something else,” Prof. Olayinka said as he mentioned that the University authorities were monitoring the moves of the new Registrar of Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) whether he would reverse the decision of his predecessor. The UI VC decried the policy of JAMB which stopped universities from conducting Post – Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (Post UTME) which he said had over the years improved the quality of students being admitted into the University. “May be up to 2003 or 2004, quite a large army of students were being asked to withdraw at the end of (their) first year on account of poor academic performance. We have statistics to back it up and it was a national problem,” Prof. Olayinka said. But with the conduct of Post UTME, the University had continued to admit the best students Nigerian secondary schools had got to produce as he said “we recorded our best (result) last year when 1.9 percent (of matriculants) were asked to withdraw”. On the next of students to be admitted, the Vice Chancellor said, “left to me, they should not be more than 3, 500” as he considered primarily hostel accommodation in the University could not cater for more than 8, 300 students including post graduates and medical students at Alexander Brown Hall, UCH. |

Sydney22:in the actual sense no one can authoritatively say anything about u.i admission pattern this year so can you please calm down and stop panicking until you actually hear from the horses mouth, last time I checked u.i accepts combined results and there was no discrimination in the courses they took combined results for, they already stopped all that point calculations thing like 5/6 years ago, so just calm down, if they don't give dentistry they'll give you another course, keep your fingers crossed. 1 Like |

LATEST ON UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN POST UTME..... In lieu of this development, I deem it imperative to encourage you further to step up your efforts towards preparation for whichever mode of admission exercise will be adopted by University of Ibadan but like I have always said 'University of Ibadan will be hell bent on going back to the era of Screening to satisfy students for admission'. Post UTME seem a more likely option. But never worry, we are trying our best to ensure that we get you richly informed as events unfold. I'm presently working on getting some past questions as well as UI practice questions across to you. For enquiries or personal guide; Watsapp or call 09084904961 |
