Some comments are baseless;how could someone come up accusing IG and APC in this matter. If the Victim family pay ransom without knowledge of Police, how will they know? however,if there is a claim of such brief Police with proper information to work with, not that you come here and say what you don't know. Reasonable Comments will be appreciated, Nbok! |

Nigeria police force I hail you. what many nigeria don't understand sis that the NPF is one of the most underfunded security unit in naIJA and yet they try their best to discharge their duties although we no they could do better. what I pray is for the NPF to receive the necessary funding that will help elevate and create efficiency at which they do their job. for all of raining abuses on them well u better know that's not the way to go about it. |

Am beginning to suspect the whole drama! Let's be realistic here, when Baba was kidnapped the family cried to police/presidency for help, an order was given and IGP led the team to Akure for the rescue mission, when the family were about making payment why didn't they carried the IGP along with the info?, how on earth will NPF know there was a ransom been paid to the hoodlums?, am not saying NPF are that competent but sometimes we the general public contribute immensely to their incompetence especially in this type of issue, when the family knew they were going to pay,why involving the police then!, I think police should then prove their competency by getting to the root of how the payment was made, how much nd to whom!,there is somebody within the family that is aware of this kidnapping case. The police should unravel it. Else the onus remains on them. 1 Like |

frankgreat:You are very right on this case. It's quite stupid claiming they paid ransom in public. I just wonder how we black people think in our attempt to disgrace one another. And these are adults with good education. I'm sure if the police drill down it will be discovered that there's an insider in Falaes fold whose involved in the kidnapping plot. Haba 1 Like |

Good thing the police now knows that ransom was paid, they should deploy their intelligence and whatever else they do to ensure they find the kidnappers and return Pa. Falae's money to him. They should just assume that the money is Pa. Falae and "rescue" it like they have always been rescuing victims. |

TRUTHTOPOWER:Cooperate with Nigeria police? Do you consider thier dilly- dallying or thier corrupt nature? Mind you no one is ready to lose a loved one because they are waiting for our incompetent, lying police force to display thier "unprofessionalism" in rescuing thier loved ones. Also Nigeria criminals are not white men who may still have compassion, they are ready to heartlessly waste lives. I believe Olu Falae's family have done well to an extent. The police should now display thier professionalism by tracking down those criminals(not innocent people as they normally do) and bring them to thier "book". |

Dav24: people have been paying ransom .no be today. question of where and how doesnt matter. if your love one, God forbid , is kidnapped. you totaly put the police at the total control for rescue is at your own risk because your love one may not come out alive. it has happened before |

I won't be surprised if they used this man for this dirty game. We have not forgotten what he did to Bola Ige; it is still very fresh. He shouldn't join the morons in fanning the ember of fire (war). I heard him saying the FG should stop the Fulani cattle rearers should not rear their cattle in Yoruba land again. Does that make sense? The man can not seek popularity with this trash after losing recognition by his people. Your people paid ransom without letting forces know at least to get some clue about the abductors. You will agree with me that the Fulanis are not known with "kidnapping" or "adultnapping. There is more to this than meet the eyes. I will continue to observe. |

ismyheal75: I agree with u but one point of correction,he didn't say FG shouldn't allow cattle rearers in Yoruba land,he only advised that FG should regulate it nd provide cattle ranches for them |

highmood:I understand the perspective of your response. However, we are no less guilty of injustice if we cannot judge each case on its own merit or demerit. I have had the privilege of meeting the IGP when he was a DIG. He is an efficient law officer. He went down to Akure in person, deployed state apparatus and combed the trail. eventually Chief Falae was released without direct engagement of police with the criminals. Note that the original ransom was 100m. Falaes reportedly paid 5m. something made them to hurriedly settle for less and escape. Compare the above to Chibok girls whose abduction was ONLY ACKNOWLEDGED by govt after one 8 full days. If the same "show" of force had been deployed for the girls, we probably won't be talking about #bringBackOurGirls. Perhaps GEJ till 2019 wouldn't have met fatal resistance. The police barked even if they couldn't bite. that with all other factors got the job done. wailers can continue to wail or cooperate to move us forward. Heck, you know why you do what you do |

i find it very dumb and stupid for the family to come out to say they paid ransom SO YOU ARE ENCOURAGING OTHER KIDNAPPERS TO KIDNAP I expect them to know better than this in a bit to rubbish the police you are rubbishing national security |

But wait o. You mean the police is expecting kidnappers to ask for a bank transfer? Please whoever wrote this article should stop embarrassing the force. The much they can do is use the phone numbers to track down the registered SIMs and take it from there. |

TRUTHTOPOWER:let's be factual and honest to ourselves; how many times have our police force successfully recued any abducted victim? God forbid that one of your family members was abducted and you have the money to set him/her free, would you wait for our policemen to come and recue him or her? How many days would you be patient enough to wait for the police force to come to the recue considering and especially the age of your loved one? I am not in support of any form criminality, but we all even "newly born" babies understands the nature of our police force. No one is ready to take chances. My kinsman have been kidnapped since two weeks in ogun state and the kidnappers are demanding for 100million ransom, would you say the loved ones should wait till God knows when for him to be rescued by the police? Olu Falae's case was public because he is a prominent figure in the society, what about many men and women who have been kidnapped and the police have only done little or nothing to rescue them? |
Re: Police Reacts To Olu Falae's Ransom Claims by TRUTHTOPOWER: 5:22pm On Sep 30, 2015 |
highmood: I have no objection to any step individuals may take in their own interest. in fact self hep should be encouraged. what I objected to is uncharitable remarks or insinuation about the Nigeria Police in this particular case. When kidnapping becomes an "industry" in a society then the accusing fingers must point in the direction of our past. How did we get here?! If this were open for a town hall meetit many high profile victims will give useful testimonies on how we got it wrong and what needs to be done. it is a collective thing. Crime is generative! |
Re: Police Reacts To Olu Falae's Ransom Claims by highmood(m): 2:34pm On Oct 03, 2015 |
TRUTHTOPOWER:sure crime is generative but our police force aren't showing passion nor dexterity to earn a good name for themselves unlike the military, navy and the air force. I am not saying the later are perfect, but our police force needs to be sanitized for high standards and performance. And until the government does that, our police force will never be trusted or relied upon for security and justice justice even if the latest weaponry and incentives are made available. |
