tonye I hail u. you see I have preview to a few important people in this country and let me tell you the north especially the core north are not interested in handing power over to the south whether in 2019, 2023 or 2027. They hve two options play the east and the west against each other or create a classic hostage situation where assuming the south unite behind one candidate and the north behind one. they will have 2 more states that the south and more voters than the south. in that case a classic hostage situation comes in place. the south will either have to accept their terms or Bleep off. you think the visit the arewa consultative forum visited buhari after he won the elections was to congratulate him. sorry NO. they sat him down and laid their plan for the next 24 years down and why he is instrumental to achieving that plan.

PDP made the right calculations.
Find a good northern candidates who can get a good share of Northern votes,pair him up with a good southern candidate that will guarantee S.S/S.E votes and the few renegade yoruba votes and they are good to go.

I am Igbo and i support this move. I have no ill feelings toward the northerners. I hate only those extremists that luckily for me,have packed themselves into APC.

I want biafra. But while we seek it,we should use subtle moves like this to pave our way to the ccenter

Immediately after the announcement of the Presidential election, I confided in some allies that for PDP to come back in 2019, it must present a candidate from the North. Specifically, the North East. I'm so glad that PDP has zoned the 2019 presidential ticket to the North. This is a testament that the party is ready for business.

Why The North?
1. Nigeria has held five presidential election since this 4th republic in 1999. The south was given the PDP's ticket on four occasions; SW(1999 and 2003) and SS (2011 and 2015). The North only had one ticket, which was in 2007(NW).

2. It will be fair and just that the North be allowed to present the PDP presidential candidate in 2019 and 2023 Presidential elections. This will give the the North a sense of belonging and equal partner of the party. PDP beloings to everybody irrespective of religion and region. It is the only party with National Appeal.

Preference For The North East:
In my opinion, it will be fair and just that the North East be allowed to present the presidential candidate for PDP in 2019. The reason being that the North East is the only region in Nigeria that is yet to produce president of this country. Fortunately for PDP, we have credible chieftain in the person of Mallam Nuhu Ribadu (Adamawa) that has the personality, charisma and credibility to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with incumbent Muhammadu Buhari. We also have Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe state.

South East Should Produce The Vice Presidential Candidate:
For the Vice Presidency of 2019, the South East deserve the slot to compensate for their loyalty to the party. Also considering that of the three regions in the South, only the SE that has not been on the joint Presidential ticket of the PDP since 1999. While the SW produced the presidential candidate in 1999 and 2003, the SS produced presidential candidate in 2011 and 2015, and VP candidate in 2007. Having a candidate from the SE in the 2019 ticket will be correct politically, morally and on the basis of equity.

My unflinching support will always rest with a PDP NE/SE Presidential ticket in 2019 and 2023 elections.

I believe that come 2019 the PDP will reclaim Aso Rock if we get things right... I believe we shall...

Bros, I hail you you Sir! Believe you me this conspiracy theory wont scale as long as democracy is concerned. I don't care about APC arrangement but I strongly believe that APC will cede their ticket to the South (possibly SW) after Buhari vacates office in 2019. I can also assure you that the 8years North/South rotation in PDP is still in place and the party is determined to pursue it. With such arrangement, such conspiracy won't thrive.

As soon as Jonathan conceded defeat, I told one of my friends who was a federal minister then that since the panacea for peace in Nigeria was for a northerner to be in power, the Pdp should go back to the drawing table and shop for a credible northern candidate for 2019. Tonye you are a realist. Some slowpokes were narrowing it down to the Igbos been schemed out of the political calculations, they even arrogated to Buhari a cult following in the north second to none, forgetting that the Dinho with his so called cult following (alimajiri) had tried 3times without success until help came from outside .

We stood by PDP because we believe in PDP! We know where we made mistakes and we have learned our lessons. Loosing to the Apc was optional and we opted for it! The time lapse was needed to avail us Space to clear our heads.
Apc since their victory has ruled as an opposition because they know their victory was just a flash in the pan as PDP remained the only true democratic party with a national outlook and spread!
