Thougts Of Our Founding Fathers.. by sanmibukunmi: 6:57am On Oct 01, 2015 |
Thoughts From Founding Fathers - Celebrating Nigeria's (in)dependence - . After assimilating them, here is a sensational article from Olaoluwa Otaiku to ponder: "I am in the second phase of my deep thought concerning the future of Nigeria, and my dream of my nation Oduduwa. I so much wonder how the Proudly Yoruba is stealing my mind knowing fully well that we are at many distance apart and in no way close to one another. Whenever I read the publication of actualization of Oduduwa nation I nod my head and dole my cap for these men and women of great vision of our time. I used to be disturbed that my thinking was odd among my peers on my perspective of this non directional nation called Nigeria but with the developments from the Proudly Yoruba, l want to categorically that say my reasoning was not odd but was hyper among my peers. To me, there is a limit to knowledge, but understanding and wisdom divinely endowed supersede it and they are both limitless and rare. So once again to say Nigeria is blind is half truth because even the blind have walking sticks to pilot them to the right directions and make them independent of any external assistance, they see through their walking sticks, they identify and move easily to their locations or places of their choice with or without human help but here come Nigeria that has been living for 99years now but lack purpose, gazette and proof of existence. It is again a diamond in a stinking and shapeless shell which wastes away like an ordinary clay that is easily washed away by a yearly erosion. When we talk about actualization of Oduduwa nation, comments from my fellow Yoruba scare me but make me more determined to strive harder and strategise more that this dream is quite achievable and realizable. To add insult to injury the non speaking Yoruba further worsen my fright by saying that the Yoruba are cowards that if we try it they will deal with us the way of Biafra. I can’t console myself why are they talking like this? I wish to narrate some of my bases of reasoning and ever struggle for the Promised and the Heir of nations on earth, the Republic of Oduduwa. 1. In 1956, Pa Tony Enahoro of blessed memory, a stalwart of the defunct action group moved a motion in the house of representatives for self independence in a meeting chaired and presided over by Lord Lugard the crooked and wicked evil amalgamator. Did heaven fall? He (Papa Tony) spoke on behalf of the manifestoes of the AG which this current lopsidedness has destroyed but never died. The NCNC and NPC (Northern Political Congress) never bargain for it because they were no where visionary compared to AG. Before this time that the British were caught unaware and they had ealier marvelled at the intelligent of these men of AG and knew the landmark achievements of this group in terms of developments and economy. The roads that the British constructed from 1914- 1950, Awolowo of blessed memory constructed quadruple of them before 1960. This to the British, they saw a man who had come to rubbish their dallying deals because they liked to reap where they never sowed. At the long run we waited for the north for years to understand that self governance is better than carrot and stick approach that the British were using to short-change our fortunes in our God’s giving land. 2. If the AG had taken cutlasses or machetes to fight the British to actualize their dream, the killings in South Africa would have been a child’s play compared to what the west who have experienced then as at 50s, if the northern Nigeria finally conceived the idea to let go the undue influence of the British on our land (l didn’t say our Nation Nigeria) then Pa Tony and Awo, Jakande, Adebanjo, Adeniran even Akintola and many others were not wrong to want to have self governance which is what l constantly advocate, agitate and make solidarity for. 3. At the end of the day, the Igbo and the Hausa benefitted immensely from this positive agitative yearnings while the masterminds were rewarded with nothing but given back seats at the inauguration ceremony in 1960, but 1966 coup brought justice that removed the chaff from the wheat, boys from the men and thank God Pa Adebanjo and Jakande are still alive, Pa Tony, Awo and others that are in great beyond rested well and their names are still ringing bells, evergreen and sellable to yet unborn generations. You can give your judgment to others any way. 4. Since 1960 the Igbo and the Hausa have often times run the affairs of this country but the Yoruba have always been in opposition which gives us the technical-no-how to meditate between the two warring factions because often times they join together to form a national government without the Yoruba but they as soon as possible vanish like vapour to divorce their deceptive marriage thereby calling on the Yoruba to please and settle their differences. This is what we are saying NO to, we the generation of 21st century of the Oduduwa dynasty say no more mediation between northern and southern Nigeria warring parties. From 2014 to 2015, mark my predictions the North, the East and the South-South will come and ask the Yoruba to broker peace for this country. To me we are tired of mediating; we want to go and settle our own problems and fend for our coming generation. 5. If Awolowo built Cocoa house of 25-storey building in 50s, which leader of our time has done such in this generation. However, we can handle our problems as Yoruba to Yoruba, but with the Nigeria inclusive, it is difficult to call ACN, PDP, LP and others to account for their deeds in southwest. Let me say this, the Yoruba leaders know what to do to liberate us from this entanglement, but they are shy and pretending to please their colleagues across the regions of Nigeria so that they would not be seen as traitors but they have enjoyed the good works of Pa Awolowo and leaving almost nothing for our present generation and if we allow this trend to persist we may not have anything left for our coming generation. How do we go about it? a. We will write a memorandum to UN, informing them of our agitation, vision and prospects. b. Copy the Yoruba indigenes of Bulgaria, Cuba, Brazil, Haiti, Jamaica, Togo, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Benin and current Senegal. c. Copy our brothers and sisters of proudly Yoruba extractions in Diaspora in America, UK, Europe and all over the world to speak in support of this, believe you me, we will get it one day. Remember the popular quote ‘I have a dream, one they a black American will become a president of America’ by Martin Luther King, though he was castrated and victimised yet the dream came through. Obama is the dream and he is to complete 8yrs in 2016. d. The Yoruba in Diaspora are seriously thirsty for this development, it is taking the bull by the horn and the race should start now. For the doubting Thomases, we didn’t go to war for June 12 and yet we got what many regions may never get again before dissolution of this forceful marriage so we will not split any blood to ride to the climax and be the Heir of the Nations of the earth. We are the nation that have been foretold and seriously expected by the rest of the world. God bless us all and make our dreams come through" |
