When Nigeria Becomes Independent ... by Nobody: 4:02pm On Oct 01, 2015 |
Today is our independence day as we like to think My definition of independence - which i think a lot of you may agree - is a state of being independent Being independent means free from outside control; not depending on another for livelihood or subsistence. Are we really independent? Should we really celebrate independence? After 55 years of existence as a 'sovereign state' i do not think we are actually Independent True independence is; When we stop importing more than 70% of what we eat and wear When we start developing technologies to suit our system and ways of life When automobiles are manufactured and assembled 80% in Nigeria when we stop importing education at the expense of our rich cultural heritage, ethnic & tribal multiplicity. When the real runners of businesses in Nigeria are Nigerians - Just so you know, the key decision makers in Dangote group ( the biggest and so far most prestigious indigenous Nigerian company) are foreigners; When we don't have to import foreign intelligence to tackle security issues created by Nigerians in Nigeria; When our we stop flying abroad for medical treatment at the slightest bruise; When we can live in any part of our country without fear... When we an Urobo man can confidently spend millions of naira investing in Yobe State Till then, I'd like to Wish Nigeria A happy existence day I love my country, I want to build my Country, I want to live in my Country... 1 Like |
