A prominent Igbo son from Abia State and member of the Board of Trustees of All Progres­sives Congress (APC), Chief Sam Nkire, has warned the Igbo in Bay­elsa State not to put all their eggs in one basket.

Reacting to the news that the Igbo from five states residing in Bayelsa had endorsed Governor Seriake Dickson, Chief Nkire said the election of President Muhamma­du Buhari should have taught Igbo people a great lesson in politics.



The former national chairman of the Progres­sive Peoples Alliance (PPA) said membership of a political party should be an individual thing, just like religion, adding that no group or indi­vidual should speak for others, when it comes to matters of voting and voting rights.

Nkire, who was a member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, said the action of a few businessmen in Bayelsa State could jeopardise the future of Ndigbo in that state and therefore, advised them to ignore the so-called agreement.

Chief Nkire told Igbo in the state that a situation where Chief Timipre, the APC candidate wins the forthcoming governor­ship election without their votes will not augur well for them.

Consequently, he urged them to, “shine their eyes” in order not to be left out of scheme of things.

This was my exact argument during Presidential elections. Igbos should play politics individually and not drag all of us into a battle that we have no interest. There are equally Edos, Isokos, Urhobos, Itsekiris, Yorubas and Hausas resident in Bayelsa but none has openly taken sides.

Na over-sabi dey worry ibos. Yet none of their candidates ever win - From lagos to Aso rock.

Even if the Igbo split their vote in last presidential election 70%APC:30%others, they will still be treated exactly like they are being treated today.

And guess what, the Igbos know that.

One disrespecting one's people speaks lowly of one.

This just clarified my earlier proof that Igbo re more than Hausa in Population.. because only a tribe with Sizable population can support a party during Election...

the Urhobo, Itsekiri, Yoruba and EDo re not that many in Bayelsa so you don't expect them to side any party.. they got Sizeable Amount of Population in Lagos that y they endorsed PDP.. even during that period APC heart they shake..
