Ago Palace Road Delayed Due To Lawsuits ─ LASG by dridowu: 11:07am On Oct 06, 2015 |
The Lagos State Government says the delay
in the construction of the Ago-Palace-Okota
Road is due to barrage of lawsuits by
residents of the area.
It, however, added that work would
thenceforth be accelerated since the
concerned residents and the government had
been able to reach an agreement.
The Permanent Secretary of the state
Ministry of Works, Ajibade Bade-Adebowale,
said this during an inspection tour of the
road, adding that the contractor handling the
project had been directed to deliver the
project in record time.
He said the contract was awarded in four
phases out of which three phases had been
completed, while the last phase was on.
He said, “The rains, coupled with the
landlords who sued the state government, are
responsible for the delay in the completion of
this project, although we have now resolved
the problem and the contractor has resumed
on site. We have also told him to ensure
speedy completion of the project.”
Bade-Adebowale said the government placed
high premium on the road owing to its socio-
economic importance. He explained that the
road linked Isolo with FESTAC Town and Mile
2;
“In fact, with the problem of container-laden
trucks and other articulated vehicles on the
Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, this road will
serve as a shorter route to the FESTAC and
Mile 2 areas,” he added.
The permanent secretary enjoined residents in
the area to bear with the government, saying
the hardship they would endure in the
meantime could not be compared with the
benefits that would follow.
Bade-Adebowale added that to ease the
residents’ stress on the road, alternative
routes had been identified by the state
government and the contractor had been
directed to make the routes motorable.
The General Manager, CCECC, Mr. Li Bing said
his company hoped to complete the project
before December 25, 2015.
He pleaded with residents and motorists in
the area to cooperate with the firm in order
to make good its promise. http://www.punchng.com/news/ago-palace-road-delayed-due-to-lawsuits-─-lasg/ lalasticlala |

STORY FOR THE GODS.... TELL US ANOTHER LIE.. WHICH SUITS.. IF YOU ARE TO PARTIALLY DEMOLISH PEOPLE'S HOUSES FOR ROAD CONSTRUCTION AND THEY HAVE C/O THEN U COMPENSATE NOT PLAY ARROGANT GOD. . THE ONES WITHOUT C/O DNT HAVE A SAY AGREED .. BUT THAT ASIDE THE REAL TRUTH LIES IN THE FACT THAT LAGOS SEES AGO AS AN IGBO DOMINATED AREA.. THAT'S THE REAL CATCH.. THE TRAVAILS ON MILE 2 WOULD BE A THING OF THE PAST IF THIS ROAD IS DONE WITH SPEED AS RESIDENTS IN SATELLITE FESTAC AND OJO ENVIRONS WOULD HAVE AN ALTERNATIVE ROUTE.. I DNT UNDERSTAND WHY LASG DNT JUST GET IT.. THE STRECH OF ROAD IN QUESTION IS VERY SHORT.. IT WOULD TAKE LESS THAN 3 MONTHS TO FIX THAT ROAD .. |

The Perm-Sec lied. The contractor is nowhere near site and the volume of work left is such that the next rainy season will still meet them "working" on the road, what with the snail pace they were going before. We've shouted and shouted about alternative routes before, but the govt didn't pay heed.Fingers crossed on that, for now. |
