It’s obvious that none of the opposition parties will see something good in the ministerial list of president Muhammadu Buhari read to our hearing yesterday by Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
The list that generated a lot of controversies only has 18 men and three women whose proficiency in working with the president have been tested and trusted.

But for the strong opposition party, PDP, they believe there is nothing to celebrate about the nominees as they are same set of people that have caused havoc to our democratic system of government. Senator, Peter Nwaoboshi, for example said, “We have taken so long to have ministers and when the list came out, we found nothing special. These are names known to Nigerians. We have seen the names. I don’t know what to say because we were expecting saints,” he said.

He added that the era of according special privilege to former senators was over, saying Nigerians were expecting a lot from the screening.
“It’s not going to be practice as usual for our former colleagues. When we start with the list, Nigerians will know where we are going to,” he said. There is not going to be ‘take a bow and go’. We will take time to look at them and we would have a good screening. We are going to do a thorough job.”

When asked about his impression over the naming of 21 rather than 36 nominees, Nwaoboshi said, “That’s APC for you; that’s APC, Nigerians will judge. I won’t say more than that.”
Niyi Akinsiju, publisher, politician, public opinionate personality and pen smith did not share his ideology as he quickly went on his facebook page to trash that notion of saint and sinner, “A Federal Cabinet is in the making! What I see? Most of them well-known names in the public space, I do not know anything about saints or sinners as bandied about by some Wailers! What I know is that most of these names are well tested and capable of providing leadership! Congrats Nigeria!” Niyi said

Well, what these critics don’t understand is that PMB has done a thorough background check (which can hardly be faulted) on his nominees and this should make their screening easier for the Senate. As for 'surprises', PMB has chosen the best with good reason and this should rather confound (than surprise) those critics who like to lump our high flyers with their own low self-esteem.

He has actually picked saints unlike the rubbles of robbers picked by Jonathan that cart away 3/4 of money earned in 16 years to foreign lands. We are satisfied with the list. It's not the person chosen that matters now, but the amount of supervision PMB would excerpt on them while operating.”
