I'm bringing a right hand drive truck (DAF XF 95.430) to Lagos from UK. Can anyone recommend a very good mechanic to change it from right-hand drive to left-hand drive? Any idea how much this will cost? Your suggestions will be much appreciated Cheers, Tayo |

Hi Tayo-Uk I wish l can help you but l can't. Why would you import a right-hand drive truck when you know it is banned in Nigeria? We blame government on eveything which is probably right but in our own little way we contribute to the miasma in Nigeria. You could never import a left-hand drive vehicle into UK? Lets do our little best to help Nigeria so as to give our future generations a chance. |

Uchek:Thanks for your contribution Uchek, if these vehicles are officially banned from Nigeria, they will not be allowed into the country from any ports in Nigeria and there are hundreds of UK vehicles coming to Nigeria everyday. It's not illegal and until it's officially banned, people will continue to bring them. I really don't know or can't think of any particular reason why you are having a go at me over what you know nothing about. Both trucks will somehow provide employment for some people and put food on some families table, how else can we contribute in YOUR OWN little way? By constructing underground train stations? Comot there  Yes, there are many left-hand drive cars in the UK from Europe and America, if you can pay the excessive taxes on them, why not. I used my SUV from US for more than 6mths before I sold it, so I'm telling you what I know much about. Take care anyway 2 Likes |

@Tayo-UK, Don't be discouraged! You may import the vehicles and they will convert it for you in Lagos (I don't know any particular place but I have seen it done several times). Trucks are a lot easier to convert than cars cos the design is a cab-over design. I will however advice you to buy all the components that will need to be replaced in Europe before you ship or you might end up paying premium for them in Lagos. You will probably need the following things: 1) Steering Rack box and steering assembly 2) Dashboard ( although the dashboard can be cut and the console repositioned with the rest of the dash panel rewelded in Naija) 3) Gear shift lever mechanism Most other stuffs can be repositioned and rewired easily cos trucks have a lot of space. As Midas said, forward control vehicles are a lot easier to convert than regular cars. With a lot of trucks, the dash is similar between LHD and RHD, with the instrument cluster merely changed over, leaving a recess which will be the glove compartment on the opposite side. |

Uchek, on a side note, LHD cars are allowed into the UK, there are no restrictions on their use either, as long as they meet Type Approval. |

hi friend have not heard of the conversion of right hand drive to left hand drive in TRUCKS.But if i were you i ll better pieces the truck and sell the parts .you ll still make some profit but not up to what you ve targeted.but maybe with time sha you can get a good mechanic to fix it for you.cheers |
