Am writing a novel with the name 'The Audacity of the slave masters'! The Fulanis seems to be laying a huge claim to the ownership of conquered territories in the west of the Niger and other willing lands in the middlebelt........before i forget,it is one Nigeria.

This issue is beyond Nigerisn territory. These herdsmen transverse via many routes spanning over several countries. They have a traditional route which they've been grazing for centuries but their activities seem to be moving deeper South as a result of desert encroachment. We need to plan on gradual stoppage of nomadic farming.

Nigeria's government is not designed to help local government, talkless of its 99% citizens. They make laws to that will fatten their pockets. Our plights do not amuse them.

Nigeria's population of cattle herders and farmers is growing.

Meanwhile, the land is not increasing in size.

And the climate is changing.

Time to make a very very hard choice to modernize the way we do farming and cattle herding in this country. Just because it was good for our ancestors 500 years ago, does not mean it is good for us today. 500 years ago...there probably weren't up to 10 million people on the piece of land that we know as Nigeria.Now there are 170 million people. Maybe 200 million by now. Most of whom farm and herd cattle. With ancient methods.

The alternative is endless anarchic violence. I don't know about you, but I do not want to see Rwanda 1994 replayed. War is the only weapon which hurts the victor and the vanquished.

We must set aside grazing highways nationwide to make up for the encroachment of the herdsmen's grazing areas which they've used for hundreds of years.
