The Nigerian Church And Job Creation - Mrebis by Sibe007(m): 12:07pm On Oct 09, 2015
The Church and Job creation....

The more we have churches preaching about 'having everything or you are nothing', the more we see competition, the more private jets are purchased, more private universities, increased crime rates, odd and obscene news here and there....

An idle mind is the devil's workshop, we don't need more churches competing for members and bragging rights of largest church auditorium or having the most branches everywhere. People need jobs, need power, need education....God doesn't live in houses built by man's hand Acts 7:48 (depends on the God u serve)

Imagine if the church camp grounds which mostly cover a very large expanse of land were used as Farms for (food, solar power arrays, wind farms), imagine the jobs we could create, the families we could provide for, the hands we could make busy, and the crimes we could reduce....

If you have a little gathering of people in your house in the name of God, that is also enough, serving God is a spiritual thing not all the physicalities we have turned it to be...(1 timothy 6.6). Godliness with contentment is great gain.

Sometimes some people say the west (English) have lost their love for God, that they have turned their churches to pubs, that they brought christianity to Africa, and we are trying to bring it back to them, to save them.......Really

It does not seem like they need to be saved, here in England, we in Nigeria do....

The church could play a better role in people's lives, much more than providing them with something to believe in about life after now, but also start creating a better life for people here. Not just saying to the members go and be blessed, but do what they can to create this Jobs that would benefit more people. (James 2;16) It states of what good are you if you tell your brother go in peace, stay blessed, but do nothing.

We need to emancipate ourselves from the mental slavery that divides us and subjects us to selfish, vain-seeking, collective ignorance and negligence. We need to be united irrespective of religion tribe or creed to help ourselves, because there will be no need of any churches or mosques no matter how many they are or how beautiful they are built if the roads leading to them are unsafe, paved with robbers etc, or if members are subjected to compulsory fasting not of their own will but due to hardship.

This is not about, this church or that church, this religion or that religion, but this is call for...

Unity Faith Peace and Progress.

My brother this is the reason why I don't go to Church anymore and becoming more and more agnostic..

It does not make any sense, why should a Pastor have a private jet that cost him atleast $50 Million, then he goes of to have 2.

now lets put this into perspective, if Oedepo had used atleast 30% of the $100 Million he used to buy his jets.

he could have built a worldclass Skills acquisition center, in actual skills like Software development and Electrical Embedded production.

This would actually bring skills that are needed in and outside Nigeria..

But his supporters are brainwashed into thinking buying 2 private jets is God's work

There are vast expanse of virgin land all over nigeria, tell your government to create effective policies to harness it.

If you have a little gathering of people in your house in the name of God, that is also enough, serving God is a spiritual thing not all the physicalities we have turned it to be...(1 timothy 6.6). Godliness with contentment is great gain

The above shows you are ignorant of the things of God. The scripture you quoted is talking about material contentment. Is this the first time you are touching the bible? Didn't read that Peter preached and 3000 people were added to the church and she continued to grow?

And who told you that he doesn't do charity or perform his coporate social responsibility?

Folks like you would commend people like Dangote who probably has more than 2 jets and sales his goods at exploitative prices.

But a simple MOG who has two jets to keep up with his busy evangelistic schedule, is a subject of bashing.

As a matter of fact God is not done with him, more jets are coming.

You don't know how to tell lies, where do I start from?

The cost of the first and second jets range around $13-15million.

while Bill gates does not even have a private jet

Another lie, bill gates owns a Bombardier BD-700 Global Express that cost $40 million and seats up to 19 people.

Do you think oyedepo does just pastoring alone?

OP said,'The church could play a better role in people's lives,
much more than providing them with something to
believe in about life after now, but also start creating a
better life for people here.
Irrespective of the disdain i have for modern 'churches' this statement is outrageously ignorant. The highest commission of the Church is to share the message of the gospel, and make disciples who will partake in the glory ahead, which is beyond this transient world. They are not to look for "better lives" here.

The brsinwashing is strong with this one.

His other business is owning schools with Church funds

Secondly Bills jets were bought by Microsoft, he had none before that.

The fact in a country with a very low gdp per capita one of it biggest pastors has 2 private jets is a fucking joke

I wish you could say the same for dominion ministries aka winners chapel.
Why is it bothering you? Is it because you don't believe in what they preach?
