Be careful out there guys. Its not always about the money but getting home in one piece. This guy had 3cars on uber. Reliable source had it that he called his wife around 11:30pm.
Pls shun late night driving as this is usually the time these bastrds take out hits on drivers.
This is so sad. And we will all keep quiet as if nothing happened and continue our hustling?
Uber and Bolt will never take any action because they know the type of people we are. That's why things can never change.
I dont think it's too much to ask these e-hailing companies to do thorough background check on all their riders during registration. They have made it easy for drivers to be easy prey.

If after this one , we don't demand for something to be done right, then the e-hailing companies should not be blamed again. Anyone that comes here to blame them, Ogun kee your papa, because u never took any step to stop this in the first place.

As for me, I'm ready to join any protest and drivers strike to put a stop to all of this. Lets go there

So sad.
If the police r on top of their game. Nabbing those guys shouldn't be hard.

BTW, for those buying cars, don't just buy any car. Cos the stolen car will be sold.

It's easy to get an account on Bolt. 2or 3 taps, you have an active account even at 12 midnight.

90% of car jacking cases occur at night.

The solution :
Only verified riders should be allowed to order rides at night.

Almost everyone has a NIN now.

Most Nigerians no dey like get involved in something especially when ẹ no affect them. If complaints of illegal deductions can be rectified, I see no reason why bolt/uber won't respond to what's most important (life of a human being).

I’ve had 2 very close friends stop driving and sell there cars, they claim it’s not a profitable venture anymore

What's their definition of profitable? Which city?
,40,50
60k/week or 1M monthly embarassed How many months did they drive before they quit?

How much are you looking at?
Personally, 09 corolla (costly spare parts) is quite luxurious for the fares on a normal day.

Bolt is still good. Cos you can choose what trips to take and which areas to avoid.

But it's not a straight meal ticket. The more hours you put in, the better your monthly income outlook.

Guys, pls be very careful this festive season. I don't usually work late, request came, going towards Yaba. The location showed civic centre but she said she's at sandfield. When I got there, she came, entered the car and said she was waiting for her colleagues. Few minutes later, I saw 3 hefty guys with very aggressive and strong face approaching my car. I asked if they were the colleagues she was waiting for and she said yes. I wasn't comfortable with those faces, so I drove off! She was shouting that I should stop. Immediately I got to the next bus stop, told her to come down. She insisted I would have to turn back and pick them. I didn't make noise. I just got down, put off my car and went to the driver's side and forcefully pulled her out of my car. She was shouting that I want to rape her. After pulling her out. I scared her a bit to move away from my car. Went to the driver's side, started my car and off home.

U did well...na police station u for drive am go when she refused to come down. She could spoil ur car as u drove off if she was mad enough.

I shared my encounter with d guys requesting from costain Roundabout.
Once you request from a bus stop at night, it's a red flag. I will never come to pick you.

At midnight,

I don't know what to say about where to go or not to go, but location, destination and rider demeanor should tell u whether to go or not to go.

Don't carry more than 2 people late night.
Sitting pattern should be one in front one at owners side or both of them at the back.
Don't do one in front and the other directly behind u.

Don't pick up anybody on d road side, whether street or express. At midnight u must consider where the rider is coming from and where he/she is going to. it's either a Lady going or coming from "work", people living or going to d beach, clubs, party, bars Or someone going home/hotel from a house/hotel or an outing like a bar.

If a lady requests, and answers d call but on reaching it's more than 2guys that want to embark on the journey, cancel d trip.

If lady/guy says s/he is picking up a friend midway into d trip. Decline that request. Tell him/her pop and plain u aren't carrying more because of the time of day, u r being security and safety conscious.

Don't stop for rider to pee or do anything in a dark, lonely, quiet place. Except they want to buy something from a busy supermarket or place.

Your driving pattern should be fast and furious...if u aren't sharp and mentally alert, dont drive at midnight.

Dont underrate small boys are underestimate ladies or girls...3 Lady-Riders hijacked their driver on Abraham Adesanya road and robbed him of his full day ant earnings, his phone and his car. Everybody is a suspect until u drop them and drive off.

Dont stop for anybody on d road except it's known police checkpoint or street vigilante road block. Robbers may form drunk or mad man and enter road, clear them of your path.

Na God dey save and protect but we need to use our head too and be wise.

The city is Lagos

I don’t really know why they failed and I’m not taking there account serious because people tend to blame other factors apart from themselves when they fail

I’m hoping to hear from people who are successful
And how much do you think I can earn weekely and what driving pattern and hours would you advice?

Sorry I don't get... What does he mean by leaving the house with 19.8mpg then returning with 19.7mpg abi the literal meaning of mpg don change?

Some cars show fuel consumption on d dash.
So for that guy, his car is consuming more fuel than usual and the fuel consumption is increasing further.

So the previous days waka, d car calculated his fuel consumption to be 1gallon = 19.8miles. then that day it was 1gallon = 19.7miles

Although there could be several other factors that may cause this reduction in mpg but it's safe to correct the issues on the dashboard first before thinking outside d box.

You didn't mention your income expectations.
What are you looking at?

Moreover, your friends might be correct in a way based on their background. For example, someone who is a trader for instance, and gets on the average 15k daily as profit.

Such a person might consider Uber as unprofitable even he makes 15k daily at it. cos of the rigors involved in the work.

Take your friends advise if u r like them.

But if u know u r different from ur friends and u like driving then ur result will be different.
U can make 100k a week if u put in d hours.

If U have the car already go give it a trial by urself. U have nothing to lose, cos what u have now is ur friends experiences and my testimony.

Or will you advice a different year ??

If you have not bought the car. N you want a corolla. The models 03-06. are very good.
Since you are new, you need a car that can at least enter some areas without issues.

I kid you not, the bumper of 09 corrolla can pull off on some culverts around Baruwa or ikorodu inner inner.

You don't need any luxury for Uber. Fuel efficiency, rugged, available parts, mechanics, easy to dispose/sell off. ( if you are no longer interested), zero /minimal electrical issues., are great points for 04,05,06 corolla.

When you r experienced, you can then upgrade to 09/10 corrolla

@JoePatrao. Know this and be at peace.

No matter what you are told, there is a learning curve, that applies to your earnings as well.

You can't hit the ground running and hitting big earnings weekly. It's going to be gradual. The more you identify how the city breathes and moves, the better your earnings.

More importantly, take safety precautions.
Gravity is a universal force, at least on Earth. It has no regard for race, title, position or experience. If a professor of physics jumps from a 25 storey building, he is going down too.

Life is a gift.

Minimum 10hours daily. This must include either of the rush hours. Morning or evening. Both will be perfect.

2009 Corolla is more expensive to purchase but similar to maintain comparing with the older Corolla models.
If u r buying with the primary objective of ehailing, u may want to buy a cheaper car but with equally low fuel consumption so u can maximize your profits
