Just discovered this thread.
I have this neighbor (also a long time church member, like a youth pastor) who has been without a job for a while. He reached out to me with a deal. He would be hustling with my car (Honda Civic 09) five times a week and be giving me 25k/week with all repairs on him. I use the car basically only on Sundays. I jumped on the deal thinking it's the best thing after rice. There was no written agreement but he has not failed with his promise since August and to the best of my knowledge, car is in good shape. That's what my mechanic has been saying.
I must confess that he on his own decided to pay 35k/week since first week of December which of course is like a December appreciation gesture from him.
Please, is 25k/week a good deal? I'm not being greedy, just asking to be in the know of this business.
Although he hasn't failed with his payment, should I opt for a formal agreement?
Help a sister.
Very good deal .......compare to someone using your car for 7days a week and will only pay 65k and yet all repairs are on you including servicing. If he is taking good care of the car that's a passive 100k monthly.

Not entirely bad, to me it's a fair deal.
Don't judge with the dashboard you are seeing here.
What you should be after the conditions of the car, so you won't have to spend the little he has given you at last.

25k for 6days, that's 4,100 per day and you say it's fair?

I have no idea but 25k for 5days doesn't sound fair to me.

We have seen and heard where drivers are netting 30k daily, and someone is paying car owner 5k out of it...

Update guys.

I got into Ghana 5 days ago. Tried to go online on my Bolt app. I discovered I can. As Lagos drivers, it appears we can use our account anywhere in Africa. Can't say of other parts of the world. Those in Europe and the likes can also help check this.

And will use 12k fuel per day atleast.
While still maintaining the car.
There's nothing wrong with the deal for me.

Increase it to 30K after holiday, most importantly get a proper written agreement that will outline all the terms and condition.

People can be funny at times, we've seen and heard alot about mixing personal relationship with business which in most cases doesn't end well.

I was going to re-ask questions about the need for proper agreement.
Thanks so much for answering it.
I'll do as advised.

Idk.

Maybe a ratio of 70:30 would have been better cox paying 25,000 out of 150,000 is around 17% which is even less than the app commission that doesn't spend a dime takes...

The focus should be on the Golden goose laying the eggs. If the car is being taken care of and it's in excellent condition. It's a good deal. However, 30k might be considered a fair deal for 5 days.,provided the car is used in a responsible manner. Not trying to go inter state and flogging life out of the car.

I would rather have a careful and maintenance oriented driver than a rough and careless driver ..
I see some cars on ehailing and I'm like, damn, this is a rough driver.

The truth is the driver always gets more than the owner in ehailng, that's the only way the partner - driver relationship can work..
Even Moove , a major fleet partner fully knows this truth.

You are only focused on the earnings. You must make allowance for contingencies, and I can tell you on Lagos roads, you have no control over that, they just pop out without informing you.

Madam, if you want to make money from ehailing you'd have to drive your car by yourself. Anything besides that you're on the losing end.
Here in Abuja, I net 25k minimum daily and I believe Lagos guys should earn higher.
