All security council members do the same thing including Russia you are praising here practices imperialism. If you think America is responsible for your hunger in Africa you must be very lazy to see the truth. Your leaders fail to provide food and develop your infrastructure but here you are blaming it on another nation. Who stole the money in your treasury in the first place? Who is looting the resources of your country? Bwahaha... You don't expect to be fed by another nation all the time and wait on your poor a s s not to take actions. You have not argument there. Russia is only being aggressive and trying to show it is still relevant as it used to do during and right after war world II. The Berlin wall constructed by the then USSR is a testament to that. History is there for you to draw some intelligence from. 1 Like |

Missy89: But one thing you've to admire about the Russians is that they've never been on the wrong side of history. If not being industrialised when slavery/colonisation was the thing in vogue was what didn't put them on the wrong side of history - you still have to laud them for that. During the second world war, the Soviets again were on the right side of history by destroying over 95% of Nazi Germany's capabilities, while the yanks were benefiting from all sides of the war, thus saving Europe and the world from the Nazis. Suez Crisis was another - without the intervention of the Soviets, both the UK and France would've re-colonised Egypt. Then when you get into Africa proper - while the US fully supported apartheid, the Soviets were the ones who helped fight against it. With their help with the Cubans in Angola - there would still be apartheid in South Africa today and the whole of Southern Africa would look like Oceania. Etc.. And today in Syria, the Soviet offspring, Russia, is also on the right side of history - cleaning up the mess the US created there with tens of millions already dead in that axis. Right side of history vs. wrong side of history. Interests might be involved, but one has always been morally right, while the other has always been morally wrong. WHY? (Jadakiss wanna know WHY lol). Please, Tupolev almost crash landed in California (and I love Cali loool) with those ancient propellers. Why America? Why blow hot air when you can't even protect ya air space? I'll only admit it's an occupation if you can admit that the British Royal family still has control over the US, hence all the most important institutions in the US are located in the DMV axis - the axis King George built. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Whenever Russia and US are mentioned, some people start misbehaving. Let me summarize this issue once again. Every country in this syria mess are guilty of pursuing their selfish interest. What you are seeing in syria today is not about saving syrians, far from it. it is about some selfish interset by the powers that be. 1. US is in syria not really to fight ISIS but to remove Assad, checkmate Iran and to secure some economic deals among other selfish interests. 2. Russia is in syria to Prevent Assad from falling, safeguard their Naval base in syria, secure economic deals, protect other selfish interest and challenge the US and bring back the Russian power and not to fight ISIS 3. Iran is player in the conflict to further her own growing influence having captured Iraq, by ensuring the syrian govt stands and not necessarily fighting ISIS 4. Saudi, Turkey etc are in the region to ensure Iran does not have the upper hand and to ensure power is returned to the Sunnis in Syria. 5. ISIS is fighting to create its own Islamic state where they can rule with their own version of Sharia law and fortunately for them, the people who should fight them have their main interests So in this war, fighting ISIS is secondary among all the players and an excuse to be in syria. Unfortunately, the losers are the civilians who have been used to play war games among competing interests. Anybody who thinks Putin is in syria to fight ISIS and save civilians is just plain naive. Like the US, wetin concern Putin with ISIS. Now, as i write, Yemen is on fire. The govt forces backed by the saudi's is bombing the houti rebels while Iran is sponsoring the rebels because they are shittes. Civilians are dying in droves, both Russia and the US are just watching and supporting form the sidelines because Yemen offers no benefit. The same Iran backing govt forces in Syria is backing rebels in Yemen while the Saudis and the Americans backing rebels in Syria are backing govt forces in Yemen. Where is Russia in Yemen? No where because there interest is not there despite civilians dying. Gentlemen, this world powers are so selfish and wicked. It pans me to see how nairalanders take sides in this evils committed against humanity. people are dying in thousands and what some people are interested is in how Russia will defeat America or how America will defeat Russia insulting each other in the process. I warn you guys once again that this war you guys tactically wishing to happen between the US and Russia, when it happens, you might not live to know which cruise missile is superior to the other or who will win the war. Thanks. 12 Likes 4 Shares |

Shymm3x: Even thou, Russia's sacrifice was very important in wining the war, They collaborated with Hitler in the beginning took half of Poland, Killed all the polish officers in their captivity, created a fake polish army, refuse to give back the polish territory and insisted that Poland " get what she lost in the east from Germany in the west" Britain caved even thou she went to war to defend polish territorial integrity in the first place. Russia lied since the 40s about killing Polish officers till 1991. How is that the right side of history? Stalin was on record saying that the England and France provoked the second world war and even said Russia will defend Germany's interest when the going was good in 39. Same Soviet Union shot down a Korean plane in 83 because they were paranoid "NATO is planning something" and did the same press conference with military powerpoint denying it and you people are wondering why people are skeptical when the MH17 issue started and wont buy Russia's explanation (Not saying Russia did it). Again how is that the right side of history? At the same time Khrushchev was "defending" Egypt he was sending tanks into Hungary to crush and Uprising there. Every great power is the same. no nation in history can claim any moral high ground. In fact. Most political scientist that are realists thinks America is weighing herself down by ideology instead of strict power concepts when it come to formulating a foreign policy. I will leave you with a memo from George Kennan a cold war strategist We must be very careful when we speak of exercising "leadership" in Asia. We are deceiving ourselves and others when we pretend to have answers to the problems, which agitate many of these Asiatic peoples. Furthermore, we have about 50% of the world's wealth but only 6.3 of its population. This disparity is particularly great as between ourselves and the peoples of Asia. In this situation, we cannot fail to be the object of envy and resentment. Our real task in the coming period is to devise a pattern of relationships, which will permit us to maintain this position of disparity without positive detriment to our national security. To do so we will have to dispense with all sentimentality and daydreaming; and our attention will have to be concentrated everywhere on our immediate national objectives. We need not deceive ourselves that we can afford today the luxury of altruism and world benefaction... In the face of this situation we would be better off to dispense now with a number of the concepts which have underlined our thinking with regard to the Far East. We should dispense with the aspiration to 'be liked' or to be regarded as the repository of a high-minded international altruism. We should stop putting ourselves in the position of being our brothers' keeper and refrain from offering moral and ideological advice. We should cease to talk about vague — and for the Far East — unreal objectives such as human rights, the raising of the living standards, and democratization. The day is not far off when we are going to have to deal in straight power concepts. The less we are hampered by idealistic slogans, the better. 1 Like |

Honestly when people rant Russia will overthrow USA in terms of combat, I Shake my head. Here is a comparison between Russia SU-30SM and the almost outgoing America F22 Raptor during this current ISIS crisis Russia has deployed at least four advanced Sukhoi Su-30SM Flankers to its base near Latakia, Syria. The jets are the latest in a series of Russian deployments to the war-torn Arab nation that includes tanks, armored personnel carriers, heavy artillery and a sizable infantry contingent. While Russian forces in the region are probably there to support Bashar al-Assad’s beleaguered regime against ISIS, without careful coordination with U.S. and allied forces operating in the region, there is a real danger of an inadvertent confrontation. That is why U.S. Defense Secretary Ash Carter made sure to call his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoygu to make certain that U.S. and Russian forces don’t accidentally find themselves in conflict. “The secretary and the minister talked about areas where the United States and Russia's perspectives overlap and areas of divergence,” states a Pentagon release. The timing of the call was slightly awkward because the Flankers showed up in Syria just hours after the conversation. For Russia, selecting the Su-30SM for the Syrian operation is a logical choice. The aircraft can carry a hefty payload and it has excellent range. Moreover, it offers the flexibility to carry out air-to-air and air-to-ground missions. That means it doesn’t need a separate fighter escort. Further, the aircraft has a second crewmember, which is helpful for complex missions. That’s why the U.S. Air Force’s F-15E Strike Eagle and the U.S. Navy’s F/A-18F Super Hornet, which are in many respects the Su-30SM’s direct analogues, have two aviators onboard. While the Russian deployment is significant in shoring up the Assad regime, in the unlikely event of a confrontation with U.S forces, a handful of Su-30s would not last long against the overwhelming odds they would face. U.S. forces in the region have a host of advanced fighters available to them—the most potent of which is the Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor. Moreover, the U.S. forces in the region far outnumber the Russian forces. While the Su-30SM is a very capable fourth generation fighter, it stands no chance against the Raptor—especially in a beyond visual range engagement. Purely on hardware terms, the Raptor has an advantage on every metric except range and payload. The F-22’s combination of stealth and sensors means that the Russian aircraft would likely be destroyed before they had any idea they were being targeted. During regular training exercises in the United States, a group of four F-22s will have to practice against as many as twenty “enemy” aircraft in order to get any useful training accomplished. tundebaba234: Yes i agree with you. American Imperialism has caused so much death in the world. My worry is Russia is now joining to add to the death and destruction for the average man on the street. Lovers of peace should be worried about this development. US domination = death and destruction, US + Russia Domination = More death and destruction. The future of the world is bleak because it just take one miscalculation because of one stupid ego and all hell will let loose. Note that neither the US nor the Russians will accept a conventional military defeat so this bragging about Russia and US military prowess is bunkum. So what happens, Booooooooooooooom. Underground:As for the statement concerning Turkey, he possibly means Russian jets violating the airspace - which is very correct. It has put Russia and Turkey on a disagreement over the nuclear power plant project to be constructed in that nation by Russian company. Those cruise missiles actually land in Iran but the government denies it for the fact it is a friendly nation to Putin state. I heard they land in rural areas with possibly very small casualties to be taken serious by Iranian government. |

Missy89: You'd agree with me that a lot of Poles were nazis themselves, hence the highest number of Jews were killed on Polish soil and Polish Jews were the most affected Jews during holocaust. Poland itself also tried to annex part of Czech's territory and Belarussia. And wasn't war mongering US president Franklin Roosevelt the reason why negotiations between Poland and everyone failed? Didn't the Poles also kill tons of ethnic Russia in Belarussia? Still right side of history for defending folks who're ethnically part of ya country against aggression. Every student of history who has been able to study the events that led to world war 2 objectively knows that Hitler started the war as a war of necessity, due to The Treaty of Versailles, then went overboard. And the Soviets weren't the only ones - Stalin signed non aggression pact with Hitler, just as both the UK and France tried to sign the same non aggression pact with Germany. The only difference is that both failed. The Treaty of Versailles started world war 2 and Stalin might be right. How many civilian planes have the US shot down for no reason? Too many to count. Heck, even the one they claimed was shot down by Libya, Pan Am Flight 103, was most likely shot down by the US or they planted explosive on the plane cos it was a false flag. And MH17 was shot down by the rogues in Kiev supported by the US. Not saying Russia doesn't do any wrong - but come up with better examples. RIGHT SIDE OF HISTORY vs. WRONG SIDE OF HISTORY. But Khrushchev did defend Egypt from foreign invasion, while the US supported the invasion, no? Whatever he did in Hungary has no bearing here since Hungary back then was part of the Eastern bloc, since the US did the same all over Latin America during the same period. I honestly don't think most folks care about the US too tough to envy the country apart from African American culture - mostly via music and urban fashion - sports, and Hollywood. The US just likes to get people talking with unnecessary killings and bombings everywhere. When bombs go off anywhere, you know the yanks are there. Why? Can't we live in peace on the planet cos some new country by virtue of the old cultures self-destruction got hold of some fancy big toys and decided to start disturbing the peace of everyone everywhere? I shall leave you with words from George Kennan, the great American hero, before he passed away (R.I.P Great man): His voice is a bit frail now, but the mind, even at age 94, is as sharp as ever. So when I reached George Kennan by phone to get his reaction to the Senate's ratification of NATO expansion it was no surprise to find that the man who was the architect of America's successful containment of the Soviet Union and one of the great American statesmen of the 20th century was ready with an answer. ''I think it is the beginning of a new cold war,'' said Mr. Kennan from his Princeton home. ''I think the Russians will gradually react quite adversely and it will affect their policies. I think it is a tragic mistake. There was no reason for this whatsoever. No one was threatening anybody else. This expansion would make the Founding Fathers of this country turn over in their graves. We have signed up to protect a whole series of countries, even though we have neither the resources nor the intention to do so in any serious way. [NATO expansion] was simply a light-hearted action by a Senate that has no real interest in foreign affairs.'' ''And Russia's democracy is as far advanced, if not farther, as any of these countries we've just signed up to defend from Russia,'' said Mr. Kennan, who joined the State Department in 1926 and was U.S. Ambassador to Moscow in 1952. ''It shows so little understanding of Russian history and Soviet history. Of course there is going to be a bad reaction from Russia, and then [the NATO expanders] will say that we always told you that is how the Russians are -- but this is just wrong.'' One only wonders what future historians will say. If we are lucky they will say that NATO expansion to Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic simply didn't matter, because the vacuum it was supposed to fill had already been filled, only the Clinton team couldn't see it. They will say that the forces of globalization integrating Europe, coupled with the new arms control agreements, proved to be so powerful that Russia, despite NATO expansion, moved ahead with democratization and Westernization, and was gradually drawn into a loosely unified Europe. If we are unlucky they will say, as Mr. Kennan predicts, that NATO expansion set up a situation in which NATO now has to either expand all the way to Russia's border, triggering a new cold war, or stop expanding after these three new countries and create a new dividing line through Europe. And what was America's response? It was to expand the NATO cold-war alliance against Russia and bring it closer to Russia's borders. Yes, tell your children, and your children's children, that you lived in the age of Bill Clinton and William Cohen, the age of Madeleine Albright and Sandy Berger, the age of Trent Lott and Joe Lieberman, and you too were present at the creation of the post-cold-war order, when these foreign policy Titans put their heads together and produced . . . a mouse. We are in the age of midgets. The only good news is that we got here in one piece because there was another age -- one of great statesmen who had both imagination and courage. As he said goodbye to me on the phone, Mr. Kennan added just one more thing: ''This has been my life, and it pains me to see it so screwed up in the end. http://www.nytimes.com/1998/05/02/opinion/foreign-affairs-now-a-word-from-x.html ^^^The great man died bitter cos of the nutters who took over the US foreign policy from the Clinton era, and the same nutters are still in-charge 3 Likes 1 Share |
