Hello all, I'm new here and have gained alot reading through the thread but still need your opinions. I'm an expecting mom and will like to travel to the US for vacation and child birth, I have a Virgin passport. My husband will sponsor the trip and will pay all bills. I have an uncle who I intend staying with, he is a US citizen and wants to send me an invitation acknowledging I will be staying with him in Houston . Please what visa category should I apply with and is it OK to say I have an invitation?? I would really appreciate your help so as to know the right thing to do. Thanks |

Interview was successful. Visa granted. Below is transcript: Vo: where in the US are u going to? Hubby: California Vo: purpose of visit? Hubby: childbirth for my wife, vacation for me and to witness the birth of my child Vo: Why do u want to have ur child in the US? Hubby: It's our first, I want her to have the best medical care and because the US ranks tops in maternal care Vo: What do u do? Hubby: I am the ... of.....company Vo: what does ur company do? Hubby: we do........ Vo: how much do you earn per month? Hubby: I don't earn monthly, I own a 10% stake in the company but averagely, I make....... per month Vo: what is the cost of the trip to u and are u in contact with a doctor? Hubby: costs.....(I hand over budget sheet stapled together with doctor and hospital correspondence) Vo scrutinises doc Vo: where do u work madam? Me: ......... Vo: how long have u worked der? Me: .....yrs+ Vo: how much do u earn per month? Me: we have salaries and we have allowances. It's a cumulative average of...... per month Vo: do u both have families in d US? We: no Vo: have u travelled outside nigeria b4? We: yes, we went to Kenya and UAE for our honeymoon, also been to the UK. (Vo types and types) Vo: ur visa has been approved. U can pick up next week. Madam, keep all your documents. As u will have a child who is a US citizen, u may need to go back for blah blah... We: thank u I wish to thank everyone who has contributed to this thread, I learnt A LOT. Infact, I turned Vo on top of hubby's head cos he doesn't read the thread, which turned out to be good cos the first time I asked him why he wanted his wife to have a baby in the US, he said because he can afford it. I screamed!!! Lol This is my 4th attempt! Yes u read it right, 4th! 3 times denied as a single having visited d UK several times. This is hubby's 1st attempt. Thanks to the person who suggested giving a reason for ur initial denial and trying to state how situation has changed in ur d's 160 form as against just saying u weren't qualified at the time. The vo who interviewed us was the one everyone prayed they wldnt go to...we were d 1st pple he issued visa today. There were generally several denials. Finally, I want to thank God for this! I simply told myself that it has been said that it is only a mad person that will do the same thing over and over again and expect to get a different result and so I did same thing I did after trying to conceive and several failed medications, I went to the altar and dropped a heavy sacrifice...alas God changed situation. 33 Likes |

HeLo Mummies, Please has anyone used medical visa before? What and what is required of you in terms of preparation? And what kind of questions should one expect? Have been denied 3ce. 1st time I went alone, 2nd time I went with hubby and 3rd time we went as a family. But one thing I think they keep asking if we have plans to access medical over there, or planning to give birth. Buh either ways maybe cuz am not showing I answered "No". So am thinking i should just go for medical visa since am showing now and due in May2016 . Please advice ooo. Also is it advisable I apply with my son or just me. |

Hello mommas, I need y'all's help. So there's this young couple that have lost 2 babies here in Naija due to one issue or the other during childbirth. I and my hubby want to assist by sending the Wife only to US for birthing. My questions are : Please our budget for hospital cost is $3000 to $3500 ( ok we might stretch it to 4K), can anyone recommend a hospital looking at our budget. She does not have anyone in US, how much should we budget for accommodation and feeding? She's already 4 months gone. Too late to start? Any other general advisory would be well appreciated. |

Sleekmum, please and please, do not attempt going to the airport without finalizing on your babies' seats with the airline. Getting someone at the airport is a uphill task. It is an almost impossible venture. I was in your shoes last August and it wasn't funny at all. At Apple16, I believe you are already at your hospital. Your life and that of your baby are very important. Please help preserve them. There will always be America but a life lost is gone FOREVER!!! 2 Likes |

I guess today is a bad day for many people. Went for mine today in Abuja and wasn't successful , a lot of ppl were denied. I am very much grateful to God for bringing me this far cos I know that denial ain't rejection and my baby is already blessed whether birthed in US or here , I say thank you to everyone here for the wealth of Knowledge I have earned. No knowledge is a waste, tomorrow is another day. Here is my transcript; Vo: Good morning Me: Good morning ma'am with a warm smile Vo: where in the US are u going to Me: Elpaso Texas Vo: For what? Me: To have my baby Vo: why in the US Me: cos I want to access the best standard of care in the world for myself and baby Vo:What do u do? Me: I am a .........In ........ Vo: How much is involved? Me: Said and gave her my budget sheet and employment letter as she said the two simultaneously but she said 'no no no am fine' Kept on maintaining eye contact as she was typing Vo: How much do u earn? Me: ........ but my hubby will be sponsoring Vo:What does ur hubby do? Me: I said...... Vo: How much does he earn? Me: Told her he doesn't earn a specific amount as he is a business man but he earns an average of ......monthly. Tried showing her his biz document for where she didn't answer me. Kept on typing Vo: How much does he have in his account? Me: Told her over..... again not interested in the statement Vo: Quickly asked how much I have in mine Me: Told her, pushing forward our bank statements for confirmation but she didn't collect Vo: Does ur hubby have US visa Me: No ma'am Vo: Am sorry ma'am I can't ........... puts the green paper in my pp and handed over to me and said Goodluck. She wasn't cheerful at all I left there thinking aloud like what could have been wrong even with all my docs. She didn't even want to see any of burden of proof. I felt bad shape but that's life, in all I give God all the praise. I wish everyone the best of luck in life's endeavour Thanks Thanks Thanks! 2 Likes |
