You maybe right about people's document not being checked, but based on what I saw on that wednesday, they actually do, so alot of the VOs do that for a couple of applicants, which made me feel a bit bad when she refused to do that for me.

But that's in the past, I guess your advice is for me to travel to other countries before re-applying, but that still doesn't boost my Ties.

Personnel, I think my ties maybe part of the reason for my denial, so how can I improve on my ties.
I reiterate..... You have not been reading this thread. You are still un prepared
quality travel history is considered a tie. Take your time and read. You will see this point stated several times

Land documents and all do not weigh Jack. If you run away will the land not be waiting for you? You can even have the land sold and the money wired to you

Hi everyone. I'm a first timer here and need some guidance. I want to visit a friend in the US this September for a week. He's going to cover the expenses but I don't know the first thing about applying for a visa. I know the details are somewhere in between the 460 pages of this thread it's difficult to go checking one by one. Please I need
*documents required
* Cost of visa
*interview
And every other information you can give. I'm a rookie o. Thanks in advance

Actually the details are on the US embassy website from where you apply for the visa.
Google is your friend. Use it.
" cost of us visa" "documents required ", "interview " are ALL CONTAINED in the website. The essence of the thread is not to promote indolence rather encourage well groomed applicants

Well, reading at least the introductory part of a thread or an article sets the tone for readers, that wouldn't hurt in my opinion. As for documents needed just start from your nursery school certificate and all forms of certificate you have acquired over the years, Lolz! The cost of visa varies, depending on your financial standing too cheesy

Dude, just go over the first page of this thread at least please, let that get you going so we don't fall into some back and forth waka-waka. Good morning....

@cosade, what's the best thing to say @the interview when i re-apply? i will be arriving at a hotel but i have a friend in the US. is there a need to disclose that or just stick to my hotel?

2. You are free to reapply at any time.
3. Nebraska is a strange place for vacation, do you have anyone there?

Nebraska is not a strange place for vacation nah.

dont forget that's where we have Heartland of America park, henry doorly zoo, doharm museum, and the popular Strategic air command and aerospace museum.

@KaptainAfrika, kindly advice me, give me a suggestion how i can explain tourism rather than sightseeing and do shoppings.

Your respond will be highly appreciated.

I didn't say you lied but that the VO would think you were lying when you lowered your eyes.

Do a list. Have a plus and minus. List your ties in the plus side and the stuff that count against u. Then do a statistics chart on probability....
Take for example. If you were a vo would you issue a visa to two people without a job and being sponsored and are traveling together?

US visa has no specific pattern. I keep hearing people giving all sorts of tips. Let me share my wife's interview sometime ago.

VO: Hello, where in US are you going?
Wife: Philadephia.
VO: To do what?
Wife: Visit my inlaws.
VO: Where do you work?
Wife: I'm not working anymore as I resigned to take care of my kid.
VO: Who's paying for your trip?
Wife: Hubby
VO: Where does hubby work?
Wife: XYZ
VO: Travelled before?
Wife: With hubby to Dubai for honeymoon.
VO: Is hubby going with you?
Wife: No, just me and my kid. Hubby is busy at work.
VO: Pick up your visa in a few days.

No reasonable travel history, no job, not going with husband, visiting inlaws and u can decide to stay back. Like I keep saying, visa to US is like the lottery. Very unpredictable. Just pray for luck.

VO: Good morning
me: good morning

vo: where are you going in America
me: Atlanta Georgia to visit my sister

vo: I see you are on uniform, what level are you in the civil service
me: Level 9

vo: have you ever travelled out of Nigeria before?
me: Yes I've been to Ghana with my family on vacation

vo: I see you went to University of Ibadan...
me: yes I had my masters here

vo: what year did you finish
me: 2013

vo: Are you married?
me: yes I am with a daughter

vo: I'm sorry you do not qualify to be granted visa at this time, please you can try again later.

This happened today 13th...to be candid someone filled the form for me and it was this morning I got the print out only to discover that some of the information filled were not correct but I told them the truth though different from what the person Imputed. Example, my MSc graduation year was 2013 but the person wrote 2012, secondly I studied psychology but the person put sociology. my question is, by the time I'm reapplying this time next year, I would have read all the pages in this topic and I'll sure fill it myself, would it be right to make the corrections on the new application having it in mind that its different from the one they have on their data base? I appreciate the good people on this forum may God continually bless you all.

1. I like the response you gave. I think you should put in any response to any question you are asked in the future.
"Nebraska is the Heartland of America park, henry doorly zoo, doharm museum, and the popular Strategic air command and aerospace museum."
2. Everyone who goes for vacation, usually does some shopping, so there's no need to mention shopping, stick to vacation and mention the things I referred to in Number 1.
3. When the VO looks at you, look back at them, its psychology.
4. Don't take any documents to prove anything, if they are required, you will be put in administrative processing and given a chance to bring them to the embassy later.
Hope this helps?

Sigh. God will still bless us anyway. Why screw yourself up so badly using an agent? This application will always be available to the next VO and you'll have to explain the discrepancy.

If you're a first timer I suggest you should think of alternatives (SA, UAE or even the west coast) for your honeymoon. Reason: If your Dad did not give you at least one holiday trip outside Nigeria during your undergraduate days then it would be difficult to convince anyone that he can afford to fund your trip.

In your visa application you would have stated the income of your husband which presumably is above the lower limit bound. On random basis US Embassy do follow up to confirm information provided, that is why some successful visa applicants are asked to provide additional documents and even some approved visa are not issued.
