A coalition of Northern youth groups has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately replace former Rivers State governor, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi as ministerial nominee before his alleged corruption baggage dents the image of his administration. Speaking on behalf of the coalition on Monday, its leader, Comrade Abdullahi Gambo said the youth had nothing against Hon. Amaechi, but would not sit back to watch the good name and integrity of President Buhari being dragged in the mud over any ministerial nominee, including the former Rivers State governor. According to Comrade Gambo, the coalition acknowledged the immense contributions of Hon. Amaechi to the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Buhari’s emergence as the party’s flag bearer, and eventually, as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, not withstanding, no case of corruption should be covered up no matter who was involved. The coalition said it agreed with Senator George Sekibo from Rivers State that the nomination of Hon. Rotimi Amaechi should be suspended until the conclusion of the ongoing probe of his tenure as governor by the current administration of Governor Nyesom Wike. “For 72 years, President Muhammadu Buhari has built his integrity and incorruptible character and remained above the board. It will be unwise to sacrifice his integrity on the altar of political compensation. This is why we are calling him to resist all pressure and replace Hon. Rotimi Amaechi without further delay. “The thrust of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration is its anti-corruption crusade. Nigerians’ confidence in that crusade will diminish if Mr President continues to appoint people with corruption questions to answer into his cabinet. “We will follow up this call with a protest to the Presidency and National Assembly by tomorrow, October 13, 2015. This is about a new Nigeria, not about Buhari or Amaechi. This group is the ONLY group that has Buhari interest so far. It is foolish and unwise to appoint a man with allegations of financial unfaithfulness around his neck as minister. In fact, Buhari scored huge own goal by taking such political decision without weighing the effect it will have on his personality (if he still has any credibility) and government. Strongly believe this is sponsored by some northern elders who dont believe in give and take[politics of compensation] but believe in the theory of use and dump.Amaechi has paid his dues at least h sould be reasonably compensated. If Fashola and Kwankwaso can make the list despite some of their questionable dealings while in office Ameachi can also be a minister in this administration. 1 Like |

Having failed to rally a protest from Rivers people to stop Amaechi, as the Good people of Rivers state vehemently rejected his hate moves against his fellow Rivers Man.. Whereas, Wike has also failed to Use Rivers Senators to stop the confirmation of Rotimi Amaechi: Whereas, Wike has failed to use the Senate Rule to Stop Amaechi.. Whereas, Wike has failed woefully to use a doctored inquisition report called Judicial inquiry report to Stop Amaechi... Nyesom Wike the alleged Murderer of his people, now plays his last card by assembling hungry, faceless and nameless youth and tagged them Northern Youth, to whip up sentiment and see if his futile project will get a lift! Cope1:So where is the change they promised us if its still going to be politics of compensation? Where is the place of patriotism if everyone who does something for government must be compensated reasonably according to you ? After being in political office for 16yrs, is Amaechi the only competent man in Rivers state? Peter Dakuku should be the one to give some of the compensation you talked about cos he lost elections. Buhari cannot say he didn't see this stiff opposition against Amaechi coming but in order not to be termed ungrateful, he threw the bones to the spirits to do as they please even after he Buhari has said he doesn't want to appoint ministers that would go to court with official vehicles.
