This morning I read the book of 2Kgs 5:1-27, permit me to share with you the lessons I learnt.

The chapter starts out with Naaman, the captain of the Syrians and ends with Gehazi, the servant of Elisha. The subject matter that strikes me is Gehazi, the greed of Gehazi. He was not content to follow the master's footsteps, like Balaam, Gehazi was greedy for gain. People who are greedy for unjust gain will:

1. LIE: He lied to Naaman, and he lied to Elisha all in the bid to receive and keep unjust profit
2. FEEL CHEATED: When Elisha said, he would not collect the gifts, Gehazi felt cheated for what did not even fall due to him.
3. PURSUE VANITY: Gehazi ran fast and furious towards what will eventually destroy him. He went like Cain in the pursuit of vanity in the open fields
4. NOT REPENT: Gehazi will not repent because he had a greedy spirit. People who repent are saved but not Gehazi; he did not see anything wrong with what he did and so will not repent.

The story of Gehazi teaches us that a greedy spirit is a CAUSE and not a BLESSING. Do you have a greedy spirit?
