Lionsclaw: U think the world supports a person who threatens to kill and destroy a country daily? The world is more likely to see him as a terrorist. That's not how freedom fighters behave and that's the main reason why I hate him. Who cares about ur stay in Nigeria? |

Lincolnburrows:Cool points you've raised. You focused on the weakness of my argument, I wonder, do we see eye to eye on the need for mental resurgence amongst Nigerians? To be sincere I find it strange when I read about Nigerians demanding for 'freedom". I ask freedom for what? Can we be particular? Is it of speech? Or movement? Of worship? Of what? We make it seem like people are being hindered inmost parts of Nigeria. Which we both know is far from the case. One area Nigerians may call for freedom is Northernmost North of Nigeria. Where religion goes unchecked. I believe Sariah should NEVER have been conceived in any part of Nigeria, Being that it is a breech of our collective freedom. But even at that Nigerians from all ethnic groups can go about their business without fear of harassment in Nigeria. One just has to be sensitive to the culture of his/her host community. I feel angry at the way some Northerners seem to take to violence like it's their own reserve. We need a system of accountability, of control, and justice. This can all be put in place to ensure peace reigns. One area of emphasis is Nigeria is a big place with lots of people. Of all the States in Nigeria how many states have Igbos or any other ethnic group suffered mass casualties? Aside from Jos, Kano and Kaduna there hasn't been any state with any conflict coming close. There are 34 other states (the conflict in the North East is excluded from consideration in that it is an insurgency and not an ethnic war). Bauchi, Tarraba, Sokoto, Benue, Niger, Nasarawa, Kogi states are examples of Northern Nigeria states where Igbos and other ethnic groups thrive in peace. So why deem the country unsafe? The slow speed of our development has little to do with our structure as a country. From the local, state, and the federal level people engage in milking the nation at every opportunity they get. Our problem is the crop of elites currently running the country. I say this regularly, if Governors managed to get it right, our country would develop in no time. Like him or not, see how Fashola developed Lagos... Imagine if we had 20 serious Governors across Nigeria, how fast do you think we'd develop? The problems the Igbos face is not peculiar to them alone, instead of drawing up a framework for a remedy what we constantly hear is ABANDON SHIP. What pains me is how secession is paraded as a solution to our problems and to be sincere it can't work. Nigeria is a polygeneous marriage with multiple wives. The wives fight from time to time (violence) , they're selfish (corruption), their kids are poor (poverty), they have different beliefs, their husband is the only reason they are together and all these problems are getting him weaker and weaker. A breakup only solves one thing, that is the fighting. Nothing else. And that's not guaranteed because trading takes you places northern Nigeria is one of them, if you can't be safe in your country, you certainly wouldn't be while under a new country. We can't shy away from facing our demons lest they get stronger and destroy us. It is time Igbos organize themselves and make their voices heard on the national level for the nation and it's problem, not just for the South East alone. The truth is that the North has a high level of illiteracy. Thus the youths are open a lot of manipulations. This is part of where we need to work on. Let's concentrate on actively bettering the lives of the common man before fighting for what already exists. There is nothing other almost nothing that the Igbo man wants to do in the south East that he isn't allowed to do... So he is free. I just wish that freedom goes national for all ethnicities. |

Why would i like such a person. Everything makes me a patriotic Nigerian no matter how bad. Its my responsibility to correct that bad thing about my beloved country. |
