Maurice Tillet, also known as “The French Angel”, was known for having a striking resemblance to that of Shrek – a character from the movie titled the same name 47 years before the it was shot.

At 17, Maurice was diagnosed with acromegaly, – a rare hormonal disorder condition, which causes the bone to overgrow and thicken in faces, hand and feet. Maurice wanted to become a lawyer, but due to rare condition he could not do so and eventually ended up joining the French navy as an engineer.
