The interest generated at the election tribunals of the oil producing states makes me wonder if other states in Nigeria also had issues during the election. Underage voting was so common in some parts but not much is heard from the tribunal sitting there. Some states seem to be more lucrative to control than others. Nigerian "Unity" is indeed hinged on Petrodollars.

Let them continue wasting their time and resources. Whenever we have to vote the right man will be voted for again and again. He is always right.

Hahahahahha at some of the LGs listed for the re-run. Udom the governor's LG is listed too. Lol. Even Ibesikpo, Oron, Nsit Atai hahahha these are the strong holds of Udom. Now I understand why they want total cancellation. Umana will just be humiliated because if he had 50votes before it will be minus 250 after the election. Hahahahha

somehow, I feel like the attempt to overturn the victory of the pdp. by the APC in Akwa ibom is a wild goose chase. However, I think there is no reason to tolerate high level election malpractice in any guise.

All the same, it's for the good of our nascent democracy.

Have you learnt your voice to the good people of Yobe state where there is evidence, documented evidence of bribery received by the REC? Abi you are not interested because it favors APC?

Nigeria as a country was built on wrong foundation, even the British, US knew that Nigeria will break up one day. UK has 4 countries in it, eg Wales, England, Scotland and Northern Island, then ask yourself why they cannot be one country like Nigeria, USA has all it states operating as a semi independent country, immigration law in Texas is not the same with California, China has Taiwan, Hong Kong, Tibet and Macau as part of China which are all semi independent, without confederation in Nigeria there will be no peace, Nigeria need to go back to Aburi peace accord, Nigeria will never be a progressive country because Nigeria is made up of irreconcilable entities that cannot align, Nigeria suppose to have 5 countries eg Arewa, Biafra, Midland, Oduduwa and Niger Delta under confederation just like UK, China, Netherlands etc, without this Nigeria will never know peace.

Some people are blaming APC or wondering why they are going to appeal without considering this case from a rational point of view.

If the tribunal can cancel the elections held in 18 local govts our of 31 (more than half of the total number of local govt) because of voter disenfranchisement, meaning that voting did not take place or people were not allowed to vote, then they have no reason to countenance or uphold the elections held in the other 13 local govt.

If a supposedly non-partisan election umpire can declare results in 18 local govt without election properly taking place, then the results declared in the other local govts are also automatically tainted. Even if voting took place in those 13 local govts, what's to say the right results were announced? An INEC who messed up 18 local govts has no business being believed in the others.

The tribunal should have nullified the while election and ordered a fresh rerun in the whole state.

what will u say abt yobe's judgement?

All u said here are assumptions not facts

our Judiciary system shld be in state of emergency now..what a confusing verdict..18/31 in percentage is 58.06% which implies 41.94% was a very good percentage to remain in office...I think the Nigerian law was designed for the poor.

That judgement was far from a victory for the APC as the incumbent governor would enter the rerun if the judgement is upheld with over 300000 votes margin ahead of the APC candidate from the valid 13 LGAS. Also the bulk of the cancelled LGAS Are his strongholds including his own local govt. Not sure the APC would be so happy wasting money on an election that is already lost.

Make them drop this issue, I have no doubt thou an APC suppoter that we had no hope of winning Akwa Ibom maybe 2019

The judiciary is thoroughly compromised going by the above tribunal judgement. The Governor ought to vacate office as he does not have 25% in 2/3 of the LGAs in Akwa Ibom, since election in 18 out of 31 LGAs has been nullified. I wonder why the tribunal gave this timid verdict to rubbish democracy!

common sense should tell u dat APC could not prove beyound reasonable doubt that there were irregularities in the other 13LGAs. U cant bring down the whole building because of the errors in some part, u only correct the error and that is what the judge did

Confused people.
Re: APC To Appeal Tribunal’s Judgment On Akwa Ibom Governorship Poll by AkwaIbomrep1: 11:50pm On Oct 21, 2015

The All Progressives Congress on Wednesday said it would appeal against the judgment of the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Akwa Ibom.
The Chairman of the party in the state, Amadu Atai, announced this to journalists in Uyo.
Mr. Atai said the party was expecting outright cancellation of the governorship election since it nullified the elections in 18 out of the 31 local government areas.
“The tribunal has cancelled the governorship elections in 18 local government areas and ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct elections in the affected areas.
“But we are going to file an appeal because we expected cancellation in more local government areas where discrepancies were pervasive”, he said.
The Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Paul Ekpo, however, said that the judgement was confusing.
Mr. Ekpo said the only good thing about the judgment was that the State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, remained in office.
He said the party would review the judgment, adding, “the judgment is very confusing except that my governor, who had won the election overwhelmingly in the state, still remains the governor.
The Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal for Akwa Ibom had earlier nullified the April 11 election in 18 out of the 31 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the State over voters’ disenfranchisement.
The three-member tribunal presided over by Justice Sadiq Umar ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct re-run election in the affected 18 LGAs.
The tribunal gave the order while delivering judgment in a petition filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC), and its candidate in the election, Umana Okon Umana seeking the nullification of the election of the governor.
Some of the affected LGAs in the judgment included Eket, Uyo, Onna, Nsit-Ibom, Nsit-Ubium, Ibimo, Ibeksibo, Nsit-Atai, Etinam and Oron.
Justice Sadiq, who read the judgment, said the tribunal upheld the testimonies of the petitioners’ witnesses that election did not hold in the affected LGAs.
Sadiq said the testimony of one of the witnesses, Mr Don Etiebet, a former member of the PDP Board of Trustees, was convincing and reliable to the effect that election did not hold where he voted.
The judge held that the allegations of irregularities and non-availability of election materials in the affected LGAs were also proved by the petitioners.
Reacting to the decision, counsel to the petitioners, Solomon Umoh (SAN), said the judgment was a victory for democracy.
On his part, counsel to the governor, Paul Usoro (SAN), said they would study the content of the judgment and decide on the next line of action.
It will be recalled that the petitioners had asked the tribunal to nullify the April 11 election on the ground that it was marred by irregularities.

They only lead evidence in 18LGA which means the other 13 were okay. If you are a lawyer you know what that means. Your postulation below is based on pemutataions and speculations, remember speculation has no place in law, for the court does not speculate or make conjunctures nor a father xmas to give that which has not been proven by cogent and credible evidence. Won't say more, a lawyer should understand what I mean.
