A U.S. government panel listed 13 countries as "egregious" violators of religious freedom.

The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom's annual report named Myanmar, North Korea, Eritrea, Iran, Iraq, NIGERIA, Pakistan, China, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.

While Nigeria def has its problems she doesn't deserve such low honors among the Irans and Sudans. Perhaps nigerians are unjustly prejudiced, and mostly in attitude alone, towards atheists but that is nowhere close to the stonings and beheadings and torturing taking place in the middle east & China.

I repeat propaganda wrote the list and Nigeria had probably offended him sometime last week.

Perhaps they callibrated religious intolerance in terms of lives lost. There's no real way to rate the attitude itself, only its effects. When they behead someone in China, it still makes the news. But so commonplace is religious rioting in Nigeria that the Jos horror went unreported by a lot of international news agencies last year. They were much more interested in the tourist-murdering terrorists at the Taj Mahal. Religious intolerance has claimed an incredible number of lives in the country. I'm tempted to say, more than in some of the other countries listed.

I was just teasing Mazaje about the atheist thing. In Nigeria, as you know, the war's between Islam and Christianity. Or at least,ignorant fundamentalist muslims who won't tolerate other tribes and other religions.
And it's all so sad,really. So unnecessary.
