Regarding the payment thing, it's kinda location based. Some locations can't go further until they pay while some don't

It is applicable to us - it is $0.99 per year, mine would expire early next year and I might have to pay the $0.99.

Master card payment does it.though i noticed over 90% of Nigerians dodge the payment, our faud is gargantuan pls!!!
they do because their whatsapp expiration would be renewed again. of what use paying for something that I will just uninstall and install or change phone number to extend validity . If whatsapp mean to implement that price policy strictly, they will loose alot of subscribers as there other alternatives in the market.

Don't be silly.
That is their only way of making money since they don't sell ads.
$1 dollar won't break anyone's purse.

Nigerians and their annoying mindset though!

why should I cheat them when their security isn't strong. I haven't paid for whatsapp because they automatically renew mine. They should strategies on how to make more money like their counterpart wechat and bbm. Even their parent company Facebook does advertisement.to survive. I only pity them if they ever fully implement the pay system. just, wondering when Facebook would start charging yearly subscription because I would want to see subscriber's.reaction to assist me on research

It is their call!
I have a rough idea that it is down to usage, but I'm not sure.

So if you got years free already, why can't you just pay when it does expire bro?

i recently paid for mine and that of friend. follow this guide.
go to settings in ur whatsapp
select account. then select payment info
select the amount in USD u want to pay ($0.99 for 1yr)
select "send payment url" it will be sent payment link to ur registered email. from there u paid after clicking on the link.but u must have online enable verve or visa card with online pay apps

alternatively if want me to do it for u send me recharge mtn card of N300 for 1year renewal.

see my signature and email.

It's a big wonder how tech can survive in Nigeria when people can't even pay a petty $1 for a greatm messaging tool like Whatsapp. Indeed, we have a long way to go in Nigeria!
