The Speaker of the House of Representatives, on Thursday 21st October 2015 announced the names of Chairman and Deputy Chairman of each of the 96 House Committees of the Green Chamber but failed to name the Chairman and Deputy Chairman for the Niger Delta Affairs Committee.

In its composition, the Speaker, Hon. Yakubu Dogara randomly assigned leadership responsibility to the selected Head and Deputy for each of the Committees to the various existing blocs in the house. The Speaker's henchmen led by Abdulmunin Jibrin, Rima Shawulu Kwewum, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha and Zakari Mohammed clinched Chairs of perceived 'juicy' committees such as Appropriation, Heads Army, Aviation and Basic education. Also the main supporters of the House Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila were not left out in the shares of spoils as they were made to head various 'juicy' committees which include that of Customs and Internally Displaced Persons chaired by James Faleke and Rufa’i Chachangi respectively.

Among the Deputy of Committees named, is Hon Emeka Anohu representing Ihiala Federal Constituency of Anambra State who was named Deputy Chairman House Committee on Basic Education and Services.

Speaking shortly after the session, Hon. Anohu promised to work harmoniously with the Chairman of the Committee and other members to achieve maximum results and meet the expectations of Nigerians. He further promised to use his new position to promote educational values in his constituency; an idea he holds high and swore to give primary attention during his campaign.
