Horacio Rodriguez, 42 from Argentina for a year did not know he had swallowed a toothpick. Neither would he have imagined that the stabbing pain he had been feeling in his chest, the weight loss or the coughing up of blood were all caused by the toothpick.

After several ultrasound scans, wrong diagnosis and being in and out of hospital for six months a specialist saw something that hadn’t been picked up before and decided to operate on him.

Describing the discovery of a toothpick as as’ unique’, hospital heart specialist Fernando Cichero said: “It was incredible when we operated on him.

“First we took the blood out of his heart and then we saw it clearly.

“Nobody could believe it at first but there It was…, a TOOTHPICK!

When Horacio came round and was told and shown the toothpick removed from his heart, he began to laugh and admitted to having eaten a load of appetisers at the end of last year.

Experts say they believe the toothpick could have entered his heart through his oesophagus or superior vena cava via his right atrium.

If he were a Nigerian, dependent on Nigerian hospitals; he'd have been buried six feet below on Nigerian soil.

Five months gone? Nothing to show for change except hardship. I thought by now, Nigeria would have become one huge construction site.

People can lie!
It beats my imagination how gullible some people can be. And some will believe this trash!
Balderdash!
From simple Biology, which about 95% of people who pass through secondary education in Nigeria are made to study compulsorily, we know that anything that enter the gut or digestive tract can only get to the circulatory system by absorption.
Recall that the digestive system is a hollow tube that begins from the mouth and ends in the anus. Whatever enters the dgestive system is broken down ( by enzymatic or mechanical activity) into macromolecules like glucose, amino acids or fatty acids for food substance like carbohydrate, proteins, or fat and oil respectively. It is only in these macromolecule forms that food substance can enter the blood or circulatory system. Any undigested material, like the toothpick in question cannot enter the circulatory system, and cannot eenter the heart. Rather, such undigested material forms the fibre that constitutes the fecal mass.
The only object that can enter the heart directly without absorption are tthose that come with high penetrative powere.g bullets from gunshots. There's no thoroughfare between the heart and the digestive system. THIS IS A CHEAP LIE. If this liar had said the toothpick was found in the lungs, we might still give him the benefit of the doubt.
Because respiratory system and digestive tract share a common route. Any substance that enters the mouth has 2 destinations: the stomach via the esophagus ; or the lungs via the trachea.
If one chews or swallows toothpick, it's either mixed with undigested materials in the gut to form the bulk of fibres that constitue the feacal mass or it is trapped in the gut and may require surgcal removal. But that it will lodge in the heart, is a NO, NO.
DON'T TELL ME NONSENSE. .... (In D' Banj voice)

I doubt if this chap ever steps into the four walls of any school.
Lazy people always want to resort to religious escape route instead of rational thinking.
We are talking of Science, Mr IJN.
Receive common sense!

Knowledge is power, no doubt.
This fellow lacks knowledge, no doubt.
So the fact that somebody displayed blood soaked toothpick and surgical instruments can validate such claim?
Well, the subject under discussion is beyond your mental capacity, and you may not easily relate with it. So, I advise you shut up your mouth, rather than validating your ignorance in the public.
Like I said, this is science. And in Science every claim (hypothesis, theory, law) is opened to criticism.
You don't take everything you are told hook, line and sinker.
