Following series of uproar the nomination of Ms Aisha Abubakar as minister from Sokoto State has caused lately, a former law maker in the state, Abubakar Tafidan Dogon Daji, has divulged that peace has been brokered and her nomination stands.


Daji hinted that the agreement for Aihsa to represent Sokoto was reached in Abuja when President Muhammadu Buhari met with Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko and a host of others from the state.

According to Daji, Aisha’s nomination and the subsequent reactions as well as counter- reactions nearly tore the state All Progressive Congress (APC) apart.

He, however, expressed displeasure on why the earlier agreement reached with PMB by the state APC should be violated with a petition purportedly written by Senator Mohammed Gobi, questioning Aisha’s eligibility for the appointment.

Dogon Daji in signed statement titled : “Breach of Agreement by a Section of Sokoto APC,” said the agreement to allow Aisha was widely published in the national dailies, and now wonder why Senator Gobir was deviating.

The statement reads in part, “A lot of water have passed below the bridge since the nomination of Hajiya Aishatu Abubakar to serve in the cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari as a federal minister. Life is full of surprises, some are pleasant and some are not so palatable as Abubakar’s nomination nearly tore the state chapter of the ruling APC into factions.

“We have heard and seen a lot of dust there from but the state governor, Rt Hon Aminu Tambuwal and the senator representing the Sokoto Central Zone and former governor of the state, distinguished Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, had last week after due consultations between President Muhammadu Buhari on one hand and the state leaders on the other, an agreement to support the nomination of Hajiya A’ishatu Abubakar was reached.

“This was contained in a statement signed by the Special Adviser on Press Matters to Governor Tambawal,Imam Imam.It was followed by a widely published meeting between Hajiya A’ishatu (the nominee) and the APC leaders and other stakeholders as presided over by Governor Tambawal in the Government Lodge Sokoto with assurances by both sides that they will work together to better the state. “
