Uwais Report: Does Yar'adua Stand To Lose Anything If Implemented by jimmysho(m): 11:52am On May 07, 2009
In Uwais white paper on the electoral reform, the Yar'adua and his kitchen cabinet had rejected the recommendation that the president should relinquish the power to appoint the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), subject to the confirmation by the Senate.

Under Section 84 of the 1999 Constitution, the president was vested with the power to make such appointment.

But Labour had, on May 1, indicated its plan to embark on the mass action with Lagos as the take-off point on May 13 to put pressure on the government to accept the entire recommendations of the Justice Mohammed Uwais-led panel.

other political parties are also crying foul, some of them are collating signature as we speak

some quarters are ready for show down.

fellow country men do we need to go through all this before our lame president listen to us? Does stand to lose anything if the report is wholly implemented?
