onatisi: There are always 2 sides to an argument. My question might seem silly to you but if you weren't so angry with MTN, you will realise that while the network messed up by activating unregistered lines, (note that ALL of the networks were guilty of this by the way. Just that MTN had the largest chunk by virtue of their been the largest network) the NCC also failed in its duty of regulating the industry by not noticing that MTN and all of the other networks were activating unregistered lines. This issue only became one because of the advent of Boko Haram and more because of the recent kidnap of Chief Olu Falae. If you weren't so angry with MTN, you will realise that there are over 10,000 Nigerians that benefit directly or indirectly from that business staying afloat. I am not arguing that any business local or foreign should take Nigeria's laws and regulations for granted, I am just saying that there are always 2 sides to an argument and the matter should be addressed more holistically. The cure for a headache is not a beheading! 1 Like |

MTN is now charging me 47kobo/sec. I complained at the nearest customer care centre all to no avail. Its like mtn wants to get the money illegally from subscribers. NCC add another charge : (1) Failure to disconnect unregistered line : Fine is # 1.4Tr (2) Charging customers arbitrarily : Fine is 50% of the above fine. (3) ........... Add yours |

The fine is ridiculous but on the other hand MTN deserves a fine. These thieves give you a 1 month "free trial" for a service. Then the next month they send you a message that your free trial is over, Send "Unsubscribe" to x number by X date or you will be charged the MONTHLY subscription fee every month. This is just monthly daylight robbery! What about all the people who didnt see the message or grandma that doesn't even use SMS. How will she unsubscribe from that rubbish that she never requested/subscribed to. They just find new ways to steal money from people. |

Hmmm...the more I dig into these
shenanigans and lopsided company
called MTN SA and MTN Nigeria, the
more I see a company taking
advantage of our moronic leaders
who never thought well of our dear
country.
I am very, very upset now, so I will
stop here with...
But suffice is to say that MTN SA/
Nigeria MUST be made to pay for
this clear violation of regulatory
directive...How I wish NCC will not
compromise and water down this fine.
MTN SA spends this proposed fine on
the SA blacks every year, those who
went to slaughter our own even this
year. So, the money isn't big for
MTN SA at all.
make them pay am! !! |
