Why Nigerian Economy Can't Sustain Bicameral System Of Government .... by scofieldsimba(m): 5:04am On Oct 31, 2015 |
Am so worried about the state of our economy.. In days to come, so many people are going to loose their jobs because things are not just working out for now.. I still have strong confidence that things will get better soonest but I feel as a country we need to go back to the drawing board... Our current system of governance is also killing our economy. It is not working out. It is to the benefits of the privilege few. We need to work things out and chart a new course for our dear country Nigeria. What is the way forward? Cc Tonyebarcanista Midolian Mogidi Ngeneukwenu Etc..... Lalasticlala.. Show me love |

Haven't anyone realized that this system has NOT made any appreciable improvement compared with where we should have been by now? If you were to place every development indices made so far, side by side with foreign exchange earnings from crude oil since the 70s, then you will realize that in fact, we are regressing. Isn't it abhorrent that two prominent leaders in the past once mentioned that the problem Nigeria has is not money, but how to spend it? Since then, you would think that every backroad in every rural community is tarred, steady electricity and pipe borne water wouldn't be a luxury anymore. Of course, our government isn't working, and it will NEVER work. It is the utmost foolishness to keep repeating the same process over and over again, and expecting a different result. 3 Likes |

Baba should look for competent person like Mrs Ngozi Okonjo Iwuala to handle our economy, he should also allow and support the CBN governor with his wise and strategic policies and not interfere all the time. Make we remember say Baba no go school oo even if he has leadership qualities he is still a neophyte in things like this. 5 Likes |

momentum85: You need to understand that the SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT we are running isn't suitable. It doesn't matter how competent the politicians and administrators are. At best, fielding the right people will bring marginal improvements. The system is such that, you put in too much effort, but realize too little results. 4 Likes |

the system is not working is a fact. we must also believe that the economy seems to be nose diving because there is no money to run the economy. PMB is slow because he is trying to accumulate cash to a certain level. even if he assign portfolio nothing much will be done this year. they will only settled down to plan for next year budget 1 Like |

Isn't it funny that we know where our problems lies and we (present generation), the so called leaders of tomorrow, feel helpless as to what to do. Why do we have to continually allow a particular section of the country decide how we live our lives? If we in the southern part of the country feel we are having short of what we should have, why are we quiet about it? The owners of the country (the north) are using the unity to hold the entire country to ransom while we down south are always on each other's throat. Someone once said "Nigeria is a place you can go to, kick its people and nothing will happen", if you ask me the person was referring to Southern Nigeria. You can't go kick a northerner and go without getting kicked back. We know a restructuring of this country is long overdue, why are we (the present generation) quiet about it? The current system of goverance is not good for you, it's not good for me so what are we doing about it? If we are expecting the old cargoes presently in government, the same people who kept us the way we are, to do something about this predicament then we ain't ready to move forward. If you ask me about those who don't truly believe in this country Nigeria, I'll tell you it's the politicians. If they believe in this country staying together then they won't loot the country's wealth, they would have developed the country. I'm sure they are looting for the rainy day and the rainy day is when the country eventually collapses. Well we have to take our destinies back from this corrupt few who have kept us like this or we, in FELA's voice, "SUFFERING AND SMILING!" this is the situation we've found ourselves in the midst of plenty. 3 Likes |

The American are so rich, They can even afford to run a 'tricameral' government but Nigeria had to copy them! It's pathetic! |

Potentially Nigeria has wealthy but in reality Nigeria is poor cos with are running a sharing economy rather than a productive economy. We either restructure completely to US system or we split to make progress but if we remain as we are....we will be this miserable forever. |

We did not copy US in structure, we deceitly copied the one that will hold the nation captive instead of copying the whole structure including 100% resource control and state policing PRYCE: 4 Likes |

scofieldsimba: It is not preveledge; it is privilege Your command of English and spellings can make one to either take you serious or not. Poor spellings can become distractions and remove people's minds from the facts in your writings. |

It's disheartening that youths of these days neglect the main issue affecting us all but would rather concentrate on things that don't matter. Of all that was outlined by the op, that was all Tony could pick out "preveledge". Ahh! We still got a long way to go brother. Mogidi: 4 Likes 1 Share |

I think it's about time the federal govt push for a referendum on this and Biafra issue. I pity Nigeria because I have no idea what century we would have a president with complexity of outlining a futuristic master plan focused on our comparative advantage. Which is what serious nation build economic success on. Which national leader do we have in this country with such complex Intuition. Is Jonathan or Buhari one would compare with the like if Kenyatta, Modi, Abe, Xi Jinping, Rousseff, Angela Merkel etc. It's disheartening to even envisage what ideas any Nigeria president can bring to the table among their counterpart from other clime. How do we not understand we need a comprehensive economic blueprint to drive every sector of humanity in Nigeria since 1999. It's unbelievable we are still grappling with building highways linking States in Nigeria not even intra lg roads. So much hopelessness. 1 Like |

scofieldsimba: Why are we finally becoming reasonable because of drop in oil price? I think we should create a tricameral style of governance so that we can "elect" more 500 people as the House of Commons or something like that to share government revenue amongst themselves every month. While no capital project is going on and civil servants are being owed. 1 Like |

scofieldsimba: You are both right and wrong. In China, the ligua franca is chinese, so they don't need to know how to speak in English. But in Nigeria, our lingua franca is English. And someone once said what is worth doing (or speaking) at all is worth doing (or speaking) well. |
