1) Hiroo Onoda was a Japanese intelligence officer who fought in world war II; he hid in a hill in Philippines for 30 years after the war because he thought that the war was still on. He surrendered In 1974 when his former commander traveled from Japan to personally issue orders relieving him from duty. Despite killing people and engaging in shootouts with the police, he was pardoned because it was believed that he not knowing the war was over affected his judgment. He died of heart failure in 2014.
2) Joseph Merrick AKA the Elephant man born in 1892 was a severely deformed English man who began to develop abnormally during the first few years of his life. His skin appeared thick and lumpy, he developed enlarged lips, and a bony lump grew on his forehead. One of his arms and both of his feet became enlarged and at some point during his childhood he fell and damaged his hip, resulting in permanent lameness. Because of his deformities, he had to sleep sitting up as lying down will asphyxiate and kill him. Joseph Merrick was exhibited all through Europe and made a lot of wealthy friends he eventually died in 1890 of asphyxiation as he laid down to sleep.
3)Mary Mallon AKA Typhoid Mary was an asymptomatic carrier of Salmonela typhi the organism associated with Typhoid. Mary worked as a cook for different affluent families and ended up infecting 51 people with typhoid before she was quarantined. Members of any family she cooked for suddenly developed typhoid and she kept changing jobs despite knowing that she infected people with the disease. She died in isolation in 1938 and autopsy conducted on her revealed life Salmonella typhi bacteria in her gall bladder.
4) Gino Martino: AKA the Human Anvil is an american professional wrestler who specializes in breaking heavy objects on his head. He set the Guinness World Records for having 45 concrete slabs with an estimated combined weight of 1125 pounds broken over his head with a bowling bat.
5) Michel Lotito AKA Mr Eat all was a French entertainer who specialized in eating indigestible materials. All through his life he ate 18 bicycles, 15 shopping carts, 7 TVs, 6 Chandeliers, 2 beds, 1 coffin, 1 computer and an aircraft (which he ate for 2 years). He died in 2007 due to natural causes.
6) Thai Ngoc is a Vietnamese man who claimed to have been awake for over 41 years; it is believed that he acquired it after a bout of fever in 1973. Despite that he seems to be physically and mentally sound.
7) Paul Kern was a Hungarian soldier who also suffered from insomnia after he was shot in the head by a Russian soldier in 1915 during World War 1. Rather than kill him, the bullet removed part of his frontal lobe making him unable to sleep. Despite that he lived another 40 years before he died.
cool Lazarus and Joannes Baptista Colorado were Italian co joined twins who toured around Europe to make a living. The upper body of Joannes Baptista and his left leg stuck out of his mobile brother. He did not speak and kept his eyes closed and mouth open all the time.It was claimed that Lazaru married and had many children but their exact date of birth is not known
9) J Paul Getty a billionaire once acclaimed to be the richest man in the world refused to pay a 17 million dollar ransom for his grandson's release. he eventually negotiated the amount to 3 million dollars after his grandson's ear was sent to him and only paid 2.2 million dollars, he loaned the remaining 800,000 dollars to his son at 4% rate.
10) Sadhu Amar Bharatu in 1973 raised his hand in the air to honor the Hindu deity Shiva and to promote world peace and has never brought it down since then. The muscles of his hand have atrophied and the girth of the right arm has shrunk in relation to his left. Since clipping his nails would have required bringing the arm down, Amar hasn’t trimmed them in decades. His nails now are mangled and curl around his fingers.
11) Jack the ripper was an unidentified serial killer who murdered prostitutes who worked at slums in London from 1888 to 1891. He murdered 11 people and further mutilated them by opening their abdomen. The case was investigated and several people were arrested but till date no one has been positively identified as Jack the ripper
