Basically indiscipline means failing to train oneself or observe training designed to engender self-control and an ordered way of life.

The fact that indiscipline has gained a firm root in all spheres of the Ghanaian society especially in our schools, homes, chieftancy institutions, media houses, on our roads and what have you, cannot be over-emphasized.

Some of the main causes, to me are poverty, the break down family, peer pressure, foreign and media influence and a host of others.

Infact the rate at which indiscipline is competing with corruption for supremacy is a great concern to all.

Taking our schools as an example, violence and disrespect for teachers the order of the day. Students resort to violence rather than dialogue as the way of expressing their grievances and in effect, properties worth millions of cedis are destroyed.

Also undisciplined students especially those in the second cycle and tertiary institution disrespect those in authority and usually don't comply with school rules and regulations leading sometimes to breakdown of law and order in our various schools and institutions.

In our various homes too, most parents with the philosophy that making money is the most important goal in life have neglected their traditional role and sole responsibility of imbibing and inculcating in their children good training and good moral values in effect this has led to waywardness which is another branch of indiscipline.

Some of the elderly people in the society too do not set good examples for the youth to emulate usually do the exact things they preach against.

Now there is soo much indiscipline in the media, actors, politicians, reporters, musicians, actress are copying the western culture blindly.

It is very disheartening to see Ghanaian so called celebrities dressed almost half naked, with its corresponding several promiscuous life style and addiction to pornographic materials.

For indiscipline to be brought to the lowest level in our society, our leaders and elders at the helm of affairs in the society must instil in citizens, the culture of maintenance and the act of staying together and respecting ourselves.

The leaders must set good examples for the young ones to follow.

Lastly, the society should find meaningful solutions to the causes of indiscipline on our various societies.
