Re: Lagos Installs 90 Cctv Cameras. by kalauta: 7:37pm On May 14, 2009 |
So, if the cameras are hidden and their location is not known, how then can we truly believe that the Government actually installed these cameras and that they are efficient? Na wa o. |

Now this is where i dont agree with Fashola. Here in the UK the cameras are placed in the open and everyone is fully informed of there presence.I'm of the opinion that the fact that the presence of these cameras are laid bare reduces the incidences of crime. |

Re: Lagos Installs 90 Cctv Cameras. by kalauta: 8:09pm On May 14, 2009 |
God bless you. My point exactly. You say you "installed 90 CCTVs in Lagos" but we can't see the evidence. Is the government "scared" to reveal the location to the public for fear that we might steal the CCTV? An unknown CCTV is a non-existent CCTV. Seeing is believing especially from a government that has been untrustworthy for ages. Nigerians sha, we like to celebrate mediocrity. cold: |

Oga, if they didn't know me before, they should now because folks like me DEMAND truth and transparencies from our government. While folks like you wait for governmental handouts, people like me will say "No thank you" because we deserve better. An unknown CCTV is a non existent CCTV. OneNaija: |

If the CCTV Cameras have been truly installed, then kudos to the Lagos State Government. I also hope the control rooms of the cameras are in place. I am also assuming that some dudes and Gals have been trained to man the control rooms, and observe what is happening on the streets with the aid of the cctv lenses. Governor Fashola has done well, but he still has a lot more to achieve. Cheers. |

If the federal govt could drop some meaningful projects like lagos is doing no body will be angry @ 'em. We know criminals are stubborn! but with this they will think twice and know they arent invincible anymore. |
Re: Lagos Installs 90 Cctv Cameras. by Thadude(m): 9:07pm On May 14, 2009 |
I hope police officers arent the ones in the control rooms because they will purge important informations. This can also be used to police a police man especially during their N20 naira accidental discharge. We also need the media to be able to have access to these informations. Infact a special 24hr TV should air in lagos, Security-TV, where citizens can watch, track and report individuals they recognise on screen. Because these criminals are our everyday neighbors and we can identify them even without a data base. This can also be use to police election centers during elections. So that if the PDP attempts to rig it, videos will be aired in the court room as proof, which could lead to cancellation. |

I am deeply impressed with this government. I understand several posts here that have expressed skepticism and even downright pessimism. We have been through quite a lot as a nation and the trust level is quite low. HOWEVER, I choose to believe in this Lagos administration and I choose to hope in a better Nigeria. By the way, where is Mrs. Rebranding? Does Fashola needs to start shouting let's rebrand Lagos? Nonsense! |

Re: Lagos Installs 90 Cctv Cameras. by Thadude(m): 3:14am On May 15, 2009 |
The 24hr live security tv will not only help in policing the environment it will also help government to raise necessary needed funds to develop the state cos' big corporations and business will advertise on it. However the state govt. must ensure it is out of the control of the police. They should have well trained IT personals and dispatchers that will also be monitored with recordable security cameras in the control rooms. These IT specialists and dispatchers will be responsible for dispatching information to the police and the police should be able to link live info from their computers at all police post. Daily recorded information must be kept on tape for 1yr while all recorded crimes must be kept and preserved for life. That way the police criminal behavioural dept. if any can use it to study crime partern and ingineous criminal inventions. which if they are successful about. The police can always use the partern to set traps for criminals where they will go under cover and pretend to be vunerable victims. |

The long awaited change in nigeria has started! Slowly though but gradually. Let's give Gov. Fashola all the support that he deserves. We hope to see other leaders taking giant steps to add value to the lives of nigerians, God bless Nigeria. |

Re: Lagos Installs 90 Cctv Cameras. by thweraja10: 3:37pm On May 15, 2009 |
Yeah its a welcome development, But i think cat spy is always better than CCTV because CCTV moves rotates at 180 degrees it cannot see anything behind but cat spy is the best it rotates 360 degrees. But its a good innovation at least we are heading some where and we are not stagnant like Ogun State and Ekiti State to mention a few. |

Re: Lagos Installs 90 Cctv Cameras. by ElRazur: 5:04pm On May 15, 2009 |
Good move. I just need to point out that CCTV can be wired to use alternative sources/back up powers. So when their is a general blackout, they are still working. 90 cameras isn't enough, my old work place had about 86 or so, and this was even a shopping centre. So, how much more for a state. |
