it will be better to count the ones I didn't read 'cause i readalmost all the Chase books. 'Make the Corpse Walk' was my first and i was hooked on that 'crack'. My favourite Chase books are : 1. Figure it Out For Yourself (featuring my fav Chase Character, Vic Malloy) 2. Flesh Of The Orchid (Anyone Remember the Sullivan Bruthas, creepy mutha#$%#) "I and little Bernie pulled a big bank robbery. Bernie has been cheating me, I wanted to get even. I skipped away with the dough, $20000.00 and I have salted it away, Bernie went to the Sullivan brothers, he knows they'll get me and they will, " 3. The World In My Pocket (You end up having sympathy for criminals) 4. The Vulture is a Patient Bird 5. No Orchid For Miss Blandish (Ahhhh, what about dave Fenner and the Grissom Mob) It was hard coming up with the list 'cause I loved everyone of them, |

Who can tell me the title of a Hardly Chase Novel which featured a talking dog. I read it back in the early 80's and was spellbound from page one to page finish. Those were the good old days when novels were the only entertainment for those whose parents couldn't afford a colored TV and Video. Can you imagine the joy of reading a novel with candle eh? No be today NEPA begin messup oh |

grafikdon: Yeah correct i just finished reading it, its a crazy story, the girl Myra having somehow gotten the magical powers of Quintl the indian was able to influence all the people around her with the magic powers, which included turning Pablo the mexican bandit into a sausage which was eaten by the dog, this enabled him to talk. Also because of the powers the good and bad in her separted into Myra /Arym the good side of her and the bad!!!!! Quite hilarious i must say but not my favorite chase, |

Chase novels were the thing in the 70s, All the chicks in my hood in Palm Grove became my best Friends when word spread that i had a massive collection of chase novels, though i cannot remember buying any!, The books were one of things that kept us occupied in our teenage years (no 24/7 TV or cable or even video in those days, ) and unarguably helped some folks spoken English, I also used to read Nick Carter and Harold Robbins, As a i got older and looked deeper into that genre of chase novels i found out that he wrote exactly like Raymond Chandler, the chap who wrote the Maltese Falcon, Big Sleep etc, Yes, Chase novels were good, those were the days |

These are tears of a joyous memories James Hardley Chase ! My 1st was WANT TO STAY ALIVE featuring Poke Toholo, I picked it from my Dad's Library I was only 10yrs then . I was on punishment u know the old' detention then when u get sent into a room NOT to come out until u were told to. I was actually meant to be reading a book packed with disney stories ,,, Cinderella, sleeping beauty etc, but out of curiosity I just picked this novel, even though there were some parts which my young brain couldn't figure out then but it was so so interesting that I eventually got called more than ten times that day just to have my dinner waoh forgetting I was actually serving a punishment . Since then I got so addicted to my father's Library which was packed with most of JHC's novel. in the later years my friends started refering to me as a TOMBOY because they were stuck with reading Mills and Boons . I didn't quite dig M&B's stories then because' I thought they were very predictable , ,,, as in girl meets boy, they started off as enemies then later fall in love but trust JHC ! always put you on the edge of your seat. People also had a misconception of the contents because of the pictures on the hardcover. These novels almost made me go crazy, I mean if I saw a stranger with any one which I had not read I definitely strike up a conversation and stole a flip through or found a way of borrowing it ! Could you recollect the one with the st christopher's medal necklace gosh ! ehm ehm I think there was a crime and the guy thought he'd dropped the neckchain at the scene, ran away from town but eventually found it while he was trying to change his clothes ? this ended the very chapter ? Talk about the Quiz @Jalal thumbs up to u for those refereshers ONE BRIGHT SUMMER MORNING ' ! shebi it was that one with those ruthless twins boy and girl shey ? JAMES HARDLEY CHASE most common motto:- ELIMINATE THE MOTIVE AND ESTABLISH AN ALIBI ! |
