The Igbo hip hop singer Patoranking was born on 27th May 1990. His is known by his stage name as Patoranking. According to his records he is a Nigerian Reggae- dancehall singer and songwriter.

Patoranking who hails from Ebonyi state. started his musical career while doing Some underground collaborations with artists such as XProject, Konga, Slam and Reggie Rockstone. In 2010 Patoranking signed a record deal with K-Solo's Igberaga Records.

At that particular time he released his first song under the label grouip "Up in D Club" under the outfit.
Again, Patoranking became a protégé of Dem Mama Records after collaborating with Timaya on his song "Alubarika". He went further to sign a record deal with Foston Musik in february 2012 and released "Girlie O" that single song made him rise to prominence.

He growing up was in Ijegun Egba Satellite Town, and later on, Patoranking relocated to Ebute Metta. Should incase you have forgotten, he attended the Citizen Comprehensive College Epe, and later on attended Jibril Martin Memorial Grammar School in Iponri. The hip hop artist started his performing arts career as a street jam and carnival dancer. In 2012 he granted interview to Entertainment Express, Patoranking said that his stage name was given to him by a Jamaican artist whom he met at Alpha Beach in Lagos. Patoranking has cited Buju Banton, Bob Marley, Fela Kuti, Lucky Dube, Chaka Demus,Majek Fashek, Blackky, Blackface, Tuface, and Marvelous Benjy as his key musical influences. He said they all have had a relatively good influence on his musical career. In the aforementioned interview with Entertainment Express, he said that he references socio-political issues in his music. The singer went on to describe his music as a morally inclined variation of dancehall.
