Even though I am a northerner, what always goes on in my mind whenever an FCT Minister is appointed is 'Is it constitutional that FCT Minister must come from the North?

Since its creation in 1976, only thr first FCT minister was from the south, the rest are Northerners

Please house clear the air.

I think what would be best is to scrap the ministry and give Abuja an elected Mayor and city council accountable to the people resident in the FCT.
That way, the people can actually have a say in who gets to run them and not depend on whoever the President chooses to appoint.
That said I would have loved if Fashola had gotten that ministry but his current role will give him a chance to work on the country's infrastructure.
Don't know much about the new FCT guy to adequately assess his competence. We can only watch.
