Odeda Local Government in Ogun state has shutdown most of the private schools in the area, as part of the drive to increase its internally generated revenue.

This raid which was carried out by the council officials accompanied by soldiers, caused panic in the area, as students were prevented from entering the schools, and students already in the schools ask to leave the school premises.

Proprietors of the affected schools, according to Rockcity fm, said the crises began when chairman of the council’s transition committee, directed private schools to pay tenement rates, which he said was unacceptable to them.

One of them, Lawrence Olumide, said although, they are not opposed to payment of the tenement rates, sine schools are proving social services, they have been in talks with the council on how they could assist it before the rage on the schools on Wednesday.
