Your cup of tea bro.

Any Opobo man that opens his mouth to say that opobo is an Igbo town is suffering from cultural identity crisis.

Of course there is no family in Rivers State where you won't find an Igbo gene.

We marry them every now and then but that doesn't still make you an Igbo man - You have your own distinct identity and that counts.

From your narration it is obvious that you have not spent much time at home or anywhere close to home but you were eager to say that opobo is an Igbo town.

Please ,go ask your Dad about who you are because if you prolly grew up under your Mom your head would have been twisted for sure - No offense but that's the truth.

What you said would earn you a slap in Opobo town and not this advice you're getting from me free of charge. grin grin

He is a Jaja and basically all Jajas, Uranta, Peterside, Cookey-Gam etc tend to cleave towards the Igbos. Many will even tell you they are Igbos. This is a fact. A good example is Jeki V Amanayabo Dandeson Jaja, Mary Uranta a famous Igbo Nollywood actress, Rivers Governorship aspirant Adol Peterside and Adasa Cookey a notable music video producer. Now check the names.

I may be ignorant when it comes to Nigeria's geography, but seriously, can someone explain what the rift is about? Assuming there's a referendum, would people not be allowed to choose? I'm just curious as to why 9 pages are riddled with insults and what not. This is not that serious, I'm sure if certain people want to be left alone, why can't we respect that? If a group wants to join Biafra, it's a choice.

Thank you manny4life I have always respected your straightforward view on sensitive issues.

The problem is that some persons are saying that at all cost that no Igbo land on Rivers State soil and Delta state would be left behind by any means necessary and last time I checked there are no Igbos in these states that have come out to fully identify with them except for some mischevious dudes that keep propping up fake monikers claiming to be coming from such places.

Funny enough the moment we the true sons of these places they've been claiming to be Igbos open up and tell them that the mentality of these people and the ideology they hold about the Igbos and their own distinct identity will not allow for such pipe dream to materialize , we are usually insulted and called names so I personally made it a point of duty to be unmasking their lies which reeks of nothing but expansionist agenda.

Tell them, you can't start in emancipating yourselves by forcing another man into your dreams of emancipation. You'll hit a brick wall

The truth is by cultural and the general opinion from these places where I am one of them - It would be sweat and blood for these people to join the Igbo man into any form of alliance without their interest clearly protected and well documented and the renaming of Port Harcourt and the claiming of some part of Rivers State as belonging to the Igbos has dimished any atom of unity we had over years of staying together because it is now obvious to all and sundry that the same agenda being pioneered by the oppressive Nigerian state is the same agenda that Ipob/Igbo/Biafra is pioneering but like I have said it would be sweat and blood and history might repeat itself.

This is where you got it wrong Kel. Opobians especially from the Jaja family don't associate with IYC. If you are in doubt, check the names of your members and tell me if you can find anyone there. That dude is a Jaja, so you should learn to respect that. The Jajas tend to look towards Amaigbo.
am telling you that guy kel4soft is an ijaw immigrant but you no grew.
Read below why he know opobo very well.

The Opobo–Nkoro people are mainly farmers and
fishermen. They are of Igbo extraction. They speak
Igbo language. Just like the neighbouring Bonny,
founded by Ndokis of Azuogu, slaves from the
hinterland transformed the demography of the
area when the Transatlantic Slave Trade was
abolished. Ijaws who came in as porters also
settled there and the Igbo language was adopted.
Although, there are no indigenous Ijaw
communities there, most Ijaw migrants and
porters have fully been integrated into the original
indigenous Igbo communities.

Pro-Natura International Nigeria has been
assisting in community-led development in the
LGA. [2]

Its careless statements like this that cause problem between my people and some Izon expansionist from Bayelsa. Stop claiming the territories of any Igboid group in Rivers whether through trick or disguise. Stay in your lane, while we stay in ours. P/H is an Ikwerrre property, unless the small waterfront areas claimed by the Okrikans. Any attempt to claim any more territories shall be well dealt with.

Yes ,PHC jointly belong to the Okrikra people and the Ikwerre people with the Ikwerres owning a larger portion of it and last time I checked Ikwerres are a distinct ethnic group situated in the Niger Delta and they are not Igbos.

the Revolution belongs to the Youths. The elders represent the past and its systems while the Youths stand for tomorrow; the glory of things to come.

VOX POPULI, VOX DEI.

Thank you for showing us that the elders of Biafra land enjoy no respect in Biafra. Little to no respect from younger to older (even elders) in Igbo society.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of Elders of Rivers State, whose respect remains intact especially in traditional matters as they declare the position of their people on traditional issues like this. Their well crafted people-powered authority is real and spans centuries. If they come to any serious decision, it means the people have spoken. And woe betide you if they speak violence against you.

Anyway, we can all see the kind of respect you Igbos bestow on your elders. Which perhaps explains a lot about the behaviour we have seen you put up so frequently on nairaland

They are not quick to violence anyway. They fought a lot in ancient history. They do not need conflicts to affirm their manliness or to assure themselves they are great.

If you've heard the dialect spoken in Ndoki, then you will have also heard the ones spoken in Opobo and Bonny. It will come to a shock for you, hearing that Igbo is their native language. Even purer than many spoken in core Igbo SE.

lol sorry to sink your ship, I don't need to delve into my family history to satisfy your doubts...

But let me satiate it a little. I'm from Jaja's compound... And so you know in case you are naive not all opobos knows of their Kingdom heritage, mostly those who did not grow up in their home.

So no one gave you the right to call a true son of the land an imposter, if you followed it up and came to that decision then your mind had only grasped a one sided story of my land.

.and here ends the chapter, I'm no cry baby who who would loud it to the world so they believe him. Besides I don't gain anything from you if you believe me or not, so there.
