Why Okada?

The name okadabooks was thought of when the founder was riding an okada in his dreams. He noticed how okada’s were able to by-pass the congested roads of Nigerian by offering a cheaper, faster and more flexible alternative to conventional means of transportation. Today the conventional way of reading and publishing books is currently experiencing a traffic jam from poor distribution to high printing costs. Okadabooks seeks to by-pass the traffic in the Nigerian book publishing industry by making it easy to publish books, making it cheap to buy books but more importantly making it fun to read books on mobile devices! At the end of the day we are driven by the concept that people will read…if books are made cheap and easily accessible and what better way to do that than by using mobile phones!

I love the app, I downloaded it months ago. However, my major grouse with the app is the way books are split into different parts. You will be enjoying your story before you know it, it has come to an abrupt end and you will start looking for continuation all over the app. Also, I am unable to review the stories I read there. I've navigated all around the app, can't seem to find how to join in the discussion (is it because my account is empty? ). All in all, it is a fantastic app that I would recommend to book (fiction or non-fiction) lovers. Sadly, I don't have much time to read like before

. Let them know about your observations. I read more books online now, but we should support the print industry. I still love the perfumed pages of Cosmopolitan, Vogue and Elle and to flip pages of books is more exciting to me than online. It is really great that Nigerians are reading on their mobile phones and it is best for the stories to be short.

I asked on their Facebook page and got no response. Weirdly I love the smell of page of old books but you can never seem to get Nigerian authors easily, that's why the app is a Godsend.

4) Entry must be between a 1,500 (minimum) - 2,500 (maximum) word count. Entries must be complete, concise and bear a comprehensive plot, i.e a beginning, middle and an end (no season). Entry font should be Arial size 12 and double spaced.
NOTE: subject of mail should signify what category the author is entering his story. No entries in PDF format will be accepted.
5) Participants can compete in four categories during this competition. I.e every writer is entitled to four entries per competition. Science fiction/fantasy category, mystery/horror category, action/thriller category and romance category.

6) Every entry must have an attachment of the scanned bank draft which has the title of the submission boldly written on it.

Hello, my own problem with the app is that..it has only reviews.. I was reading chimmamanda's "Americanah" just after downloading it but it came to an end & I was asked to download the real book..why is that? I thought its meant to have the real eBook already?
