Chinese consumer electronics company announces a key hire to continue smartphone rise.

Huawei's smartphone business is on fire with quarterly double digit growth rates. Huawei just officially launched the Nexus 6P, the company has made for Google. Now the company makes headlines with a key hire. Huawei announced the appointment of a former Creative Director at Apple. Abigail Sarah Brody has worked with the late Steve Jobs on the first iPhone and first iOS release.

Abigail Sarah Brody will take the role of Chief Designer of User Experience at Huawei. She will lead a team of 80 UI designers in developing creative UI design experiences and the look and feel for Huawei Consumer products. Huawei also announced plans to open an UX R& design studio in Silicon Valley or San Francisco in the United States.

This is a powerful signal that Huawei is setting here with the hire of Brody. Huawei is aiming big and goes full for ahead to compete for the top of the smartphone market against Apple and Samsung.

Abigail Sarah Brody is a graduate of the Art Center College of Design (ACCD) in Pasadena, California. Prior to joining Huawei, Brody provided senior expertise and design strategy consulting services to various technology and IT brands. In her career she served as Vice President of Global Design at eBay/PayPal and most notably as Creative Director at Apple where she developed and designed numerous landmark products in the course of a decade while working with the late Steve Jobs, most notably the first release of the iPhone and iOS.
