Biafra Agitation Can Scuttle Igbo Presidency - South-East APC by makzeze: 6:12am On Nov 16, 2015 |
South-East All Progressives Congress (APC) has appealed to pro-Biafra agitators and groups embarking on mass protest in the zone to stop the action so as not to jeopardize the quest for Nigeria president of Igbo extraction in 2023. Spokesman of South-East APC leadership caucus, Mr Osita Okechukwu, in a statement yesterday particularly appealed to Movement for Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and similar groups to stop mass action and beating drums of war in the overall interest of the Ndigbo at home, across the country and abroad. He stressed that every rational indicator favoured Ndigbo, and advised them to guard against hate propaganda and wait ‘patiently’ to harvest the turn of the South East. “Whereas we agree that there is gross unemployment, discontent and despondency among youths in the land, however, it is not peculiar to the South East alone. The gross unemployment is nationwide and would be addressed holistically. Luckily, our son, distinguished Senator Chris Ngige is the minister in charge of employment. “As our record shows it’s better to jaw-jaw than to war-war. Dialogue is the best solution, albeit we are doing relatively well across the country and our human development index is one of the highest,” the statement added. Okechukwu, who said Ndigbo must be strategic in their agitation, noted that they could be one of the greatest beneficiaries of the ‘progressive and prosperous Nigeria’ being constructed by President Muhammadu Buhari, going by available evidence. He said this was not the best of times to hype the agitation for Biafra because President Buhari had pledged to resuscitate the dilapidated federal roads in the South East, revamp Enugu Coal, fix 2nd Niger Bridge and other physical infrastructure. “For Mr. President, his word is his bond. Critical analysis posits that after his second tenure, it will be the turn of the South East to produce Nigeria’s president of Igbo extraction. “Is it not paradoxical that the Pro-Biafra agitators were not this hyper-active in the 16 years when the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a party Ndigbo gave unprecedented and overwhelming support, without commensurate reward, was in power at the centre?,” he asked. The APC chieftain said he was optimistic that the presidency would rotate to the South-East in 2023 “going by the zoning convention, equity and natural justice”. http://dailytrust.com.ng/news/politics/biafra-agitation-can-scuttle-igbo-presidency-apc/119512.html 1 Like 1 Share |

That's just it. If they don't want to jeopardize their hope of clinching the number position after the tenure of our dear president. United we stand divided we fall. God bless Nigeria 2 Likes |

Well reasoned by the South East APC, which i considered as one of the most vibrant and courageous zonal unit of the party. However, it is noteworthy that Equity lean against double portion, you can not be demanding secession from a country and at the same time demand for the mantle to preside over the same country. Again he who will seek equity must do equity, you can not be protesting against a said injustice and at the same time engage in lawlessness and abuse of human dignity. 1 Like |

freeDR: Plz which country will give hersed to those wanting to cede away from her? Your truth is simply cos your kinsmen have still not recovered from the fact theyost the war ...they still keep agitating for something that will never come to pass. Thr internal politics even within themselves even in just little positions that are not even political speaks alot. Even the igbos will still not be united, next we hear is another biafra trying to break way from Biafra. Its their nature by default... |

What has the presidency benefited anyone? Me think Mr Osita Okechukwu is afraid Biafra actualisation will make him irrelevant. The solution for Mr Osita Okechukwu is to join the Biafra movement and secure the future of his children, as Nigeria has failed, and is bound to disintegrated, sooner rather than later. Nigeria is a failed state; Biafra is Hope! 1 Like |

Fu.ckk that presidency.......the norh has had it for many years but their lives aint even better.....it didn't stop them from begging, having polio, etc Yorubas had it for some time.....the lives were not better. It didn't stop their states apart from lagos from being slums and epitome of poverty The Ijaw had it for 6 years......it even worsened their lives, environmental degradation, etc So mr osita and his APC can shove their presidency up their asses |

koboko69:Oga, the Igbos can play whatever kind of internal politics they like; that is never a reason to deny them their right to self determination. Please kindly look for better reasons to present in the future. BTW, I'm not Igbo. |

I am saddened that a lot of people don't understand why Igbos want Biafra. the simple truth is that Nigerian as it is structured today lacks all the necessary ingredients for nationhood. I don't know why this is difficult to understand. |
