Five-time World Cup finalists Nigeria could well draw arch-rivals Ghana and Cameroon in the group phase of the qualifying tournament for the 2018 World Cup should the FIFA rankings be mainly used to seed teams.

No date has been fixed yet for the draw for this final round of the World Cup qualifiers, which will be played on league basis, but speculations are rife that it could be before the end of the year.

Currently, Nigeria are 59th ranked team in the world and on this count, they will fall in pot 3 of seeds along with Egypt (57), Mali (63), Uganda (68) and Zambia (71).

Pot 1 will have the continent’s top teams Cote d’Ivoire (22), Algeria (26), Ghana (30), Cape Verde (32) and Senegal (39).

Pot 2 will be made up of Tunisia (41), Cameroon (51), Congo Brazzaville (52), Guinea (53) and DR Congo (55).

The last pot of 20 qualifiers could then be Gabon (73), South Africa (75), Morocco (79), Burkina Faso (93) and Libya (113).

A team from each pot will be picked out to form a qualifying group of five teams with the overall winners advancing to the World Cup in Russia.

Regular customers you say? Don't forget that it is the south African team that thumped us out of last AFCON. No team should be underestimated

Lol The magnitude of suckness (The word doesn't exist but wants to use it to make a point) in Nigerian Team is directly proportional to team Ghana and team Cameroon.

Let them seed us in any of there group.

We will qualify.

Naija will knock these african teams out in one sweep! I dont care what saddists and pessimists would say! Super eagles have a reputation for rising to the occasion when you write them off. Check out Naija versus Cote de vior, Nations cup 2013. Naija versus Argentina, world cup 2014- we didnt win this last one but we were really tough. Underestimate the super eagles at your peril! PLEASE WRITE US OFF, IT MAKES US BETTER!!!

we failed to qualify for the 2006 world cup. That could be repeated ten years later
Re: World Cup Qualifiers: Nigeria May Draw Ghana, Cameroon by Baboo13(m): 6:19pm On Nov 18, 2015
I knew it before

Infact sef we could drop down when the next rankings come out

Some mumu ignoramus fans ran unto the pitch just because we beat Swaziland 2-0. I weep

Even beating Swaziland handsomely home and away won't make us rise. Swaziland are faar below in rankings

God help us

The draw will be a disaster to football lovers who care about super eagles coz our players are not in good form and if this continue, I doubt our qualification. Its just like drawing Chelsea with stoke, Liverpool and west ham at this trial stage of Chelsea fc
