I read with displeasure people's comments on the barefaced genocide going on in Gbaramatu kingdom & neighbouring villages in the niger delta.People gave lame excuses like,"the excesses of those millitant must be checked"even at the expense of innocent lives and property,come on nigerians how can we be so insensitive.
Make no mistake,i am not in surpport of the criminalities of the millitants neither am i for military onslaught on hapless women and childrien,i mean,let us give a human face to the way we comment on the injustice going on there.
Some dayz prior to the onslaught,Mr President declared amnesty to these freedom fighters or the so-called millitants only for him to turn around and waged an offensive on them.Mr President speaks of bringing peace to the niger delta through dialogue and yet forcibly arm the JTF with sophisticated weapons at thesame time,where is the honesty of purpose.Government's claim of actions towards developement through the NDDC and the ministry of Niger Delta is flawed because,1.The NDDC is being owed arrears that up till present have not been paid yet he went ahead and established for symbol and political correctness,The Ministry Of The Niger Delta,when the NDDC is financially prostrate.If the Government should give half the developmental attention they give to Abuja to this region, the condition there will not have degenerated to this level.
Now thier armies(which comprises majorly of hausas just as they have fashioned it) are busy bombing those places in the guise of fishing out criminals/militants when the real criminals are his friends,Dangote,otedola,Babaginda,Obasanjo,Abdulsalam and co who have continued to make sure the only direction the prices of fuel,cement,sugar etc go is upwards.They have looted the wealth from that region,fix prices to their own benefits and even annoyingly display thier ill-gotten wealth in the faces of both local and international magazines,yet they are addressed as Ur Excellencies.
Until we stop pretending that all is well with that region we will never find peace there or anywhere else in this country.Bombing the people will only push more youths to take up arms and I fear too that in retaliation these militants might hit places outside of thier region,places like Lagos,enugu,Abuja can be hit especially now that there is going to be a world tournament in a few months to come,who says this is not an opportunity to bring thier cause or whatever to the limelight of the world's stage.Besides, who says these boys don't have outside backing,could be the Taliban,the Aqaeda or even the russian maffia,the government should not think they will win this war so soon without casualties afterall the only thing these boys can possibly lose is thier lives.The government have a lot to lose here,waging war is the worst decision this government has taken,he can ask the Americans how much success they have recorded. what MEND needs right now is to sponsor a Political Wing led by mainstream politicians

because by the time you have Rivers, Delta and Bayelsa being run by MEND political wing as Governors and LGA chairman. . . . . . .while the Militants exist as a MILITARY wing of MEND providing local security to the local Political leaders . . . . the central government will have to come to the table with a better deal.

So that you will not just have boys kidnapping Oyibo people, the Political wing can as well take the central Government to court to challenge why we are practicing a Federal System of Government and yet resouces are controlled at the centre.

By that PDP will be expelled from the delta . . . . . and the central government will be further Isolated making it dificult to crack the MEND Military wing.

The guy that is asking about what am trying to say.Is it not obvious to You dat Yaradua is making a mistake choosing to fish out militants in the manner the JTF is going about.Just imagine U re in Lagos and then U get a report that Ur village was under the barrage of artillery fire and other military stuf and that Ur family there has been erazed(God forbid),I bet Ur answer wont be "na wa o" or "what re U trying to say".You make such an insensitive comment 4rm the comfort of Ur armchair without even putting Urself in thier shoes.Abeg learn to show concern for other people besidez urself.

Best argument i have heard on NL for a while - IRA in the united kingdom did it and and today they are major force in government.

Am not apolegetic for what am going to say here:

I totally support any action on the part of the govt that will bring some sanity to that part of the country.

Let me share this personal experience with you.

Not long ago (2 months back), a captain on one my company vessel (very experience and a perfect elderly gentleman) was mercilessly and in a barbaric manner killed by the so called criminals calling themselves militants around the chanoumi creeks: his offence?, he did not hoist the flag of their "republic". Here is a man with lots of family members that depend on him for their livelihood, killed by criminals of the delta.

Since theses criminals  lives with the so called "innocent" civilians and tactically approved of their actions, then am sure there is going to be collateral damage along the line.

You cannot be carrying arms and killing people at will and expects to go scot free. LET THEM PAY FOR THEIR CRIMINALITY
