Terrorists operate on the basis of their own ideological parameters, which are at variance with all known tenets of reason and commonsense. They're nihilistic and fatalistic, so dont even bother trying to understand their destructive beliefs.

But at the same time the western powers and their power play especially in matters of the middle east are not helping matters. Obama and NATO armed ISIS in the name of fighting Syria's Assad, just as they armed the rebels in Libya to fight Gaddafi, and the Mujaheddin who later became the Taliban.

Obama boasted of "degrading" ISIS, but all he seemed to have accomplished was to offer free publicity and thus swelled their ranks.

The US, NATO and the UN are better off aligning with Assad to fight ISIS, rather than arming so called nationalists who always become insurgents unwilling to let go of their arms.

Northern Mali fell in March-April 2012 to al-Qaeda-linked groups long concentrated in the area before being removed by a France-led military operation launched in January 2013.
The question is why the northern part?

This is fake. I checked Al Jazeera and that part mentioning Dangote is NOT there. Al Jazeera reads:

Speaking to Al Jazeera by phone from Bamako, business owner Garba Konate said a group of attackers showed up about 0700 GMT.

"About 10 gunmen arrived early in the morning and shot all the guards in front of the Radisson," Konate said.

Witnesses said several hostages were released by the attackers after reciting versus of the Quran.

Another witness said he helped a wounded guard to safety.

"I started hearing gunshots coming from the hotel," said Ibrahim, 28, who works at a cultural centre 40 metres away.


This fake news poster then added his own thus:
The fake news read :
